Exclusive: Trump campaign had at least 18 undisclosed contacts with Russians

Michael Flynn and other advisers to Donald Trump’s campaign were in contact with Russian officials and others with Kremlin ties in at least 18 calls and emails during the last seven months of the 2016 presidential race, current and former U.S. officials familiar with the exchanges told Reuters.

Six of the previously undisclosed contacts described to Reuters were phone calls between Sergei Kislyak, Russia's ambassador to the United States, and Trump advisers, including Flynn, Trump’s first national security adviser, three current and former officials said.

In January, the Trump White House initially denied any contacts with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign. The White House and advisers to the campaign have since confirmed four meetings between Kislyak and Trump advisers during that time.

In addition to the six phone calls involving Kislyak, the communications described to Reuters involved another 12 calls, emails or text messages between Russian officials or people considered to be close to Putin and Trump campaign advisers.

After Vice President Mike Pence and others had denied in January that Trump campaign representatives had any contact with Russian officials, the White House later confirmed that Kislyak had met twice with then-Senator Jeff Sessions, who later became attorney general.

Mike Pence sets up his own PAC as scandals rain down on Trump White House

Vice President Mike Pence has set up a political action committee on the same week that the Trump administration is suffering from its worst week of scandals yet.

NBC News reports that Pence this week filed paperwork to form the Great America Committee, which will aim to “aid his own future political interests, including helping Republican candidates ahead of the 2018 midterms” and will “be able to use the funds to cover the costs of the vice president’s travels on Air Force Two to campaign on behalf of GOP candidates across the country.”

This is unusual, as NBC notes that no sitting vice president has ever set up their own PAC before. The timing is interesting as well, as it comes as the Trump White House is suffering from its worst week yet thanks to revelations that the president gave classified information to Russian government officials and that he allegedly asked former FBI Director James Comey to stop investigating former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

Mikey is starting the distancing himself from the Trumpanzies! Will he let Congress impeach or will he 25th Amendment Trump?

However, one source tells NBC News that no one should think that Pence’s PAC has been formed as a preparation to run for president in 2020 if Trump is somehow ousted from office.

“Don’t read into 2020 as anything other than his running for re-election as vice president in 2020 and supporting other candidates,” the source claimed.

Sure, Okay, Ua Hunh, pull the other leg , it's got bells on it. :D

Trump expected to pick Joe Lieberman as FBI director: White House sources

Wow, I didn't see that coming.

President Donald Trump is expected to pick former Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman as the new director of the FBI.

According to Politico, senior officials in the Trump administration have told sources in the last 12 hours that Lieberman is Trump’s top choice to replace former FBI Directory James Comey.

A person familiar with Wednesday’s meeting said Trump bonded with Lieberman, and the president left leaning towards the former Connecticut senator, who retired in 2013. Trump has not signaled otherwise that anyone else is the favorite, aides said, and has told one adviser he wants to make an announcement before he leaves Friday on his first foreign trip.

FBI Director Joe Lieberman? No, We Can’t Possibly Drink That Much

Senate Democrats say ‘hell no’ to Trump’s choice of Joe Lieberman for FBI Director

Democrats in the U.S. Senate gave a solid thumbs down to President Donald Trump’s announcement that he is likely to choose retired Sen. Joe Lieberman to replace former FBI Director James Comey.

Brown is one of the many Democrats who blames Lieberman for lobbying with Republicans against a 2009 Democratic proposal to extend Medicare benefits to people 55 years old rather than the current lower limit of 65.

“He’s the reason we lost Medicare at 55,” Brown told Politico. “Couldn’t have had anything to do with the insurance industry lobbying in Hartford. I’m sure Lieberman couldn’t succumb to that.

‘Trump’s best defense is dementia’: Internet in shock as Friday bombshells abruptly rock White House

Monday, it was reported Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian ambassador and Russian foreign minister during a closed-door meeting in the Oval Office last week. Wednesday, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced a special counsel to oversee the Department of Justice’s investigation into Russia and possible collusion with the Trump campaign. Thursday, the Times published a piece indicating disgraced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn warned the Trump transition team he was under federal investigation prior to the inauguration.

On Friday, the Times reported on an official White House summary of the closed-door Oval Office meeting between Trump and the Russian ambassador and Russian foreign minister. According to that summary, in addition to divulging highly classified information to those Russian officials, Trump also boasted about firing former FBI Director James Comey, who was overseeing the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign. The president also reportedly called Comey a “nut job.”

A few minutes later, the Washington Post published a report that the federal investigation has expanded to include a senior White House official currently in the administration. The Post described the individual as someone “close to the president.”

This rapid-fire Friday news dump jolted the internet, as users struggled to comprehend the magnitude of those reports.

Will Trump last another week? Will he stumble over his own rhetoric while he's overseas.

There's more, too.

-White House looking into impeachment lawyers

- Comey will testify in open hearing the week after Memorial Day

Trump committed another impeachable offense last week — and it had nothing to do with the Russia probe

In a statement to The Nation, Lieu expounded on the illegality:

“For the second time in as many months, the US military has conducted airstrikes against pro-Assad forces in Syria,” Lieu’s statement read. “The Trump Administration does not have congressional authorization to carry out military strikes against the Assad regime.”

Reps. Keith Ellison (D-MN), Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ), Mark Pocan (D-WI), who lead the Congressional Progressive Caucus, had similar sentiments to Lieu in a statement during Trump’s first airstrike in Syria last month.

“In the absence of an imminent threat to the United States, the president must seek Congressional authorization prior to any act of war. Trump failed to seek, much less gain, Congressional authorization,” the statement read. “If President Trump believes that US military actions should be utilized against the Assad regime, he should immediately call the House and Senate back into session to debate and vote on the use of military force.”

And so the 17th weak of the Trumpanzy comes to a close with how many impeachable offenses (3-4?) committed and widely known. When will Congress act?
