I think that this is the reason that more gorgeous women are accompanied by really marginal looking guys. Those guys think that they have nothing to lose in approaching a beautiful woman and just go ahead, assuming that they will be rejected. "Normal" guys think that they will be painfully shot down in flames every time and just don't think the effort is worth the pain. Guys are a lot more afraid and insecure than anyone thinks!
