1984 speak in 2025

I don't think Orwell would have seen it that way and we'll never know since we can't ask him now but anyways I don't think it's important to prove whether a libertarian socialist could or could not exist because too much time is being wasted on trying to pidgeon hole people into a certain stereotype or another...for me the point or Orwell books is that authoritarian and dictatorships and fascists are the good intentions that pave the way to hell or evil...
@Politruk
"I recall reading a piece by Robert Anton Wilson from 1980, when he was covering Barry Commoner's presidential run as a Citizens Party candidate. Wilson remarked, "In terms of my politics I suppose I should have supported the Libertarian Party, but I'm not that kind of Libertarian. I don't hate poor people."

I šŸ’˜ LOVE to read too, but from the posts of yours that I've read, I'm thinking that maybe you should get out and study LIVING ,IT instead of just reading about it...

There's a real world out there that feeds you, clothes you, keeps your lights and keyboard running, and fuels your transportation....

Trying to reason with our resident Comrade AI Chat Boi is useless. He’s never left his basement it appears. He just SeaGull’s these threads, never really understanding that his Ivory Tower mentality is easily recognized.

ā€œSo I learned about roaches, I learned about kids jumping on my lap,ā€ the former vice president told the audience in Delaware. ā€œAnd I loved kids jumping on my lap.ā€- Pudd’n Head Biden

Can someone explain the double speak Pudd’n Head laid on us in ā€˜17? He was never held accountable for his slur against black children.

Maybe his apologists can help clarify…

Oh…I almost forgot. WTF was that ā€œHairy Legs, letting the kids touch himā€ all about? This is your boy democrats…

Poor Hump is too dumb to understand the concept of doublespeak.

It’s weird how MAGA sheep latch onto buzzwords.

...and yet many times they are used together which shows that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely...

Which SHOULD tell you that any of the above are bad juju and shouldn't EVER be given to children or politicians to play with.

Another racist apologist. Good work rewrite…

Now about those hairy legs and bouncing kids in his lap…

Not doublespeak.

And your weird obsession with Biden and kids isn’t relevant to a thread about ā€œ1984 speak in 2025ā€. Biden isn’t the president.

Nobody ever accused President Biden of abusing kids until it was found that Trump had abused underage girls at Epstein Island and said that he fancied his own daughter.

Whatever Trump did was immediately made into an accusation against President Biden, it was so predictable. Taking bribes, marrying a whore, talking gibberish, making threats against opponents, anything.

Trump getting a woody talking about his daughter on Howard Stern was Lance-level creepy. And yet Biden is the creep to them.

Sure it is. It’s very relevant that our ā€œmediaā€ totally ignored all of his gaffes and glaring red flag statements. The double speak comes with their coverup. Seeing the light now?

I mentioned it to see how our resident lemmings would respond. You didn’t disappoint. šŸ™ƒ

1984.
It is by George Orwell.
I read it in...9th grade maybe?
I am in the minority of people though that did not care for it. Nor did I enjoy Brave New World. 1984 was better though.
But perhaps I was tainted because reading for enjoyment vs reading for analysis and writing essays are far different.

edit: I read it in 10th.
Because it foretold the political evolution of the present-day Democrat Party.

yes, a book written in 1949 predicted the democratic party in 2025...or was it expanding on some views and policies of a previous former dictator that may have been in the news in the recent decade (in the 40s) and expanded upon some and therefore predicted the state of the country...though he was off by 40ish years

Rightguide knows 1984 is closer to the modern MAGA world view. But like a good cultist and with no sense of irony, he is trying to tell you that 2 + 2 = 5.

It's notable that the name of Marx is never once mentioned in 1984. The Party's ideology is never described beyond its slogans. The implication is that it doesn't matter -- all forms of totalitarianism are equally "oligarchical collectivism."

The thought of "Big Brother" in complete totalitarian control of the state and its people is the intellectual coitus that gave birth to the modern Deep State that is populated and supported by the Democrat Party.

you mean the GOP and W's Patriot Act...ahem

There is no Deep State but this.

Oh, of course not. The fact that unelected bureaucrats, intelligence operatives, and entrenched career officials seem to outlast every administration, sabotage policies they don’t like, and leak selectively to the press is pure coincidence? Totally normal civic housekeeping. Like a ghost that rearranges furniture but definitely isn’t real, just ignore the trail of classified memos and mysteriously timed indictments. Nothing to see here.
