I'd love to offer my help as a volunteer editor and beta reader! I've done some small edits before, and I'm really keen to gain more experience and hone my skills.

I'm happy to work with any genre/category, but I especially enjoy short stories and novelettes (up to around 20,000 words).

I can work with most common file formats (Word, PDF, plain text, Google Docs) and I also use Reedsy for my own writing, so I'm comfortable with that platform as well.

Hi there. Are you still available to look over a story to get it published on Literotica? the first part of my story got approved but part 2 was sent back for spelling errors. I thought I had thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar which is challenging when writing in 1st person. I could really use some help.

Thirty years of writing experience with 12+ “hot” stories. I can help with story mechanics, structure, style, plot, character, and tone.

My genre strengths are Romance, Erotic Couplings, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Mind Control, NonHuman, Taboo/Incest, Loving Wives, and First Time. If your story involves heavy kink, BDSM, or GLBTQ topics, then you will do better with an editor who specializes in those. No gross excretions, torture, degradation—I won't read those.

When I review a story, I put in a fair bit of effort to give useful feedback. So I ask that you reach out to me only if you are genuinely interested in making improvements your story. I don't mean I expect you to act on every recommendation, but if you aren't even open to making changes, then please do not waste my time. However, if you really do want to improve your writing, I will do my level best to help you.

Happy to help when I can. Anything except Gay Male, Loving Wives and heavily Non-Consensual... oh, and there may be a line where Fetish goes a little too far, but I am open-minded. I will have to set a limit around 10k words due to time on my side, I don't want to leave you hanging around too long. I am a Brit so lean towards British English, but have edited American English before also. If you're interested I've only been writing around 8 years but already have quite a few Hot H stories to my name. Take a look at one or two of the later ones and you'll see my style.

Usually avoid these: Anal; BDSM (have edited cases of light use for friends); Fetish; Gay Male; Group Sex; Lesbian (have read and reviewed some for friends, but that's it); Group Sex (will do if light); Toys; Transgender. I have zero tolerance for dehumanizing anyone for kicks or exceptionally disturbing content (like scat/urine).

I specialize in streamlining stories for reading (e.g., eliminating unneeded repetition, run-ons/comma splices), grammar and punctuation (although weak on dialogue dynamics) eliminating plot holes and general research. Recently edited a story to 9500 from 11K words. I suggest based on cross-cultural connections and universal truths, as I specialize in structuralism.

I exclusively use Google Docs because commenting is easiest there and it saves comments the best of anything I've seen (aside from a doc natively edited/commented in Adobe Acrobat).

Will reply to conversations within 24 hours, but include anything you specifically want me to look for or help with. My time available may sometimes vary due to workload.

I would add, that VE's are not only unpaid Volunteers, they are occasionally not even thanked for their efforts. VEs do it for the community but it is getting more difficult, so at least thank them. I've toyed with the idea of creating a list of folks who use VEs but do nothing at all to thank them.

You cant know if an author thanks their editor. Not everyone wants public recognition. Often thanks are given behind the scenes.
