Corey Lewandowski: Comey is part of ‘the deep state

The deep state, whatever it is, is back. The beloved conspiratorial trope of the right wing reared its head again Friday morning, when former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America to discuss fired FBI Director James B. Comey’s testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Lewandowski has been a consistently vociferous, abrasive defender of the man who fired him last June, whether on the campaign trail, where he assaulted a Breitbart News reporter, or on CNN, where as a commentator he frequently shouted down those with whom he disagreed. Friday’s appearance on ABC was no different.

Can we hold Congress up for obstruction Justice because they are traitorous Dicks?

Yes, we can and we should. This is where I run into being conflicted about the whistle blowing going on. I normally would be down on someone like Reality Winner and Comey for leaking material (and still can see why they would be prosecuted). They signed agreements of nondisclosure willingly to get jobs they wanted. (I faced this choice head on back in the Nixon era myself.) Winner's leaking is clear-cut criminal, but I think Comey's is too. His memos were written in the context of his job; all of us who worked in classified jobs agreed to office review and redacting of anything we wrote/participated in while on the job--even after we left government service. He bypassed this process.

Where my problem comes in is, when those up the line have become corrupted and are engaged in serial coverup of prosecutable actions as the current administration and Republican leadership in Congress have, I increasingly see civil rebellion and whistleblowing as legitimate and necessary. In Comey's case, it does diminish him in my view, but I never saw him as a white knight, nonpolitical, or nonpartisan.

Seth Meyers mocks Comey hearing

Away from the senate, house speaker Paul Ryan tried to excuse Trump’s alarming lack of protocol, saying he was still learning the intricacies of being president. “He’s just new to this,” said Ryan.

Joked Meyers: “So, wait…the president is learning on the job? Even at Chipotle you have to shadow someone for a week.”

:D

Comey’s testimony revealed a president who sees himself more crime boss than chief executive

Trump thinks he's the "Godfather" but he is just "Weird Uncle Harold.":D

‘This is nonsense’: Iowa GOP senator tears into Trump White House for trying to block info requests

Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley (R) blasted President Donald Trump’s White House legal team this week for attempting to limit Congress’ ability to obtain information from the Executive Branch of government.

“This is nonsense,” Grassley said in a 7-page letter dated June 7 that accuses the White House’s legal handlers of violating the separation of powers and attempting an end run around the checks and balances that allow the co-equal branches of the U.S. government to function.

The letter is a scathing denunciation of a May 1 opinion issued by the White House’s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) that would allow the president, vice president and their respective staffers to ignore any requests for information that do not come directly from the chairmen of Congressional committees.

When Grassley calls bullshit on Trump's bullshit, you know the 25th amendment is getting warmed up.

I agree with you on Reality Winner, but not Comey. The way I see it those were completely personal notes, not official in any way, he had a right to do with as he saw fit. And, there is the fact that he probably would have just kept them to himself had not Trump himself threatened him and spoke about their interactions in his tweets.

If the POTUS threatens you ("You better hope there are no tapes of our conversations") you have a right to do what you want.

Otherwise, I'm not big on Whistle Blowers.

They aren't notes on personal matters. They are work-related notes. There's no wiggle room on whether they are covered by a clearance nondisclosure agreement. I signed such agreements annually for twenty-seven years. I know what's in them and what I committed to. (I also, Donald Trump, still have to file annual financial disclosure statements twenty years after I retired and my annuity can be cancelled if I don't.)

I also went through a period in the Nixon years of checking directly what my obligations were regarding these wavers I signed and I also am still obligated to obtain Agency approval for any of my books that deal with espionage (and have done so with six books). Comey's notes were definitely connected with his job and he didn't clear release of them through anyone. They are not unrelated to the job he was doing. He'd already been loose with this a couple of times in giving public statements when his boss advised him not to--and they adversely affected where we are now.

An aspect I don't know about is whether being fired rather than resigning or retiring releases someone from this obligation. That may come up and be cleared up by those who know.

Am I glad he released the stuff (and that Reality Winner did so)? Yep. Should they have to take their responsibility for doing so after having willingly signed away their right to do so? Yep. This is a real world, not some utopia. Governments can't function with complete, open transparency--especially if it would go to an electorate that would vote in a Donald Trump. Maybe at the end of this, it should include a pardon for using civil rebellion of the majority against the minority in an effort to save the union. That would be fine with me. Do I feel sorry for Trump that the leaks are coming out? Not a bit, especially since he invited hacking and leaking in public statements himself (the big dummy).

Does the way the documents come to light negate the strength of the documents? Nope. This isn't a game. If the documents are valid, using them is a separate issue.

Not to sound like Box, but I just don't know what he signed or what restrictions if any he was under. Could very well be, idk.

In any event, it's not like he blabbed code word classified Intel to the Russians in the Oval Office. to show off about what great Intel he gets.

He signed essentially the same releases I did for twenty-seven years. I noted that already. It's not my fault you don't know how that system works. Comey should know how it works.

Trump blasts Comey: I didn’t tell him to kill Flynn probe but it wouldn’t be wrong if I did

President Donald Trump said during a Friday press conference that former FBI director James Comey lied during his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Trump said he never told Comey to back off the investigation into his former national security advisor Mike Flynn.

“I didn’t say that,” Trump remarked. “I will tell you, I didn’t say that. And there would be nothing wrong if I did say it, according to everybody that I have read today. But I did not say that.”

The president also denied he asked Comey for a pledge of loyalty and said he would be “100 percent” willing to testify under oath.

So it looks like it's Comey vs Trump, one of which is a liar. Which has the most credibility, the Trumpanzy or the former Director of the FBI?

‘Insanity’: Internet stunned as Trump sides with Saudis instead of his own secretary of state in Qatar dispute

Donald Trump on Friday escalated the growing rift with Qatar, calling out the country as a sponsor of terrorism after seven Middle Eastern countries severed ties with Doha.

That statement came mere hours after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson urged “there be no further escalation by parties in the region.”

News that Trump appeared to contradict his own secretary of state stunned the Internet on Friday with users expressing disbelief over the president’s words.

Does Trump know that his Navy base is in Qatar and the US has poured millions into building a base there in the hot bed of Terrorism? Does Trump care that the Saudis just agreed to pay the Mil-Ind Complex 'so much money' that it doesn't matter that they are the major source of the problem in the Mid-East?

To be fair, they both could be doing some lying. Trump doesn't seem to be aware that it's generally accepted that he's a congenital liar, though. He might be surprised at the results of having said he was 100 percent ready to testify under oath. Chances are that he's lying about his willingness to do that too.

Well let's see! How about Congress getting him under oath and before Congress, on Monday, to answer the questions about his conduct in this matter? Maybe have Muller conduct the interview to ask about the troubling Flynn matter and we could wrap this up and get on with pillorying Pence for being a Dick.

:D

You lost me at "Congress getting him."

Hey they guy was a dirty cop who pissed his pants, according to his own testimony, every time he went in front of Trump and Obama and Bush. If H. Clinton had won the guy would most likely be pushing up daises right now. He showed that "only in my mind" and not facts are behind his b.s.

What the leftist Soros followers have to understand is that Soros lost the election. Clinton and yes McCain both took money from Soros so it isn't just people of one party selling the country out. But the election is over and being cry babies and making up lies and fake stories isn't doing the country or the world any good.

Move to Cuba or North Korea and get away from us terrible Americans. Live the life you truly desire. And leave the Constitution alone.

And leave the Constitution alone.

The Constitution was made by Soros people, I don't trust it.

I mean, the parchment itself, that's from old Soros people. They dealt in parchment production on the down low. And the ink, too. That's all Soros family there. Completely indelible. Smacks of Soros.

People are too tied up in Soros deep pockets to go against the truth, but it's true. All Soros stuff. It's all online for you to search and find out, but the Illuminati and The Society of Seventeen Skulls, Swords, Shields & Salmon Steaks has covered up Soros dealings for decades.

Yup. ;)

Wait, are you saying it was Soros all along? I thought it was the Koch brothers. Damnit! Now I gotta get all those "I told you so" T-shirts reprinted.

Could've sworn I made a post regarding Seth-Trump the night after Comey testified, but I can't seem to find it now....

Regarding the Q by JackLuis: "Can we hold Congress up for obstruction Justice because they are traitorous Dicks?", I recall Ron "Tater Salad" White saying "Ignorance of the law is no excuse" (& he claimed to be quoting someone in the courts... Darn! Within arm's reach of my DVD, but can't recall which it's on!).

Should be on Trump's headstone? :D

Sorry.... Not a Trump-level idiot myself, but do you mean when he dies, or one of the stones in his head (the main reason we all knew Kathy wasn't holding the real one)?

I meant on his grave stone. Or on a nice bling necklace he could wear to his trial.:)

I meant on his grave stone.

Could've sworn the joke (about the joke) was obvious.

Or on a nice bling necklace he could wear to his trial.:)

He already try-led & fay-led. (Though I have read there may be more Sessions... These things write themselves!)

But maybe Kellyanne (Does Things The) Conway will wear one to hers & help plug his daughter's new jewelry line.
