2nd Democratic presidential debate this Friday 11/06/15

This year making nice with BLM is the thing, and that has nothing to do with handouts. Back in the '60s playing up to the Civil Rights movement was the thing, and that had nothing to do with handouts. "Hope and Change," whatever it meant, had nothing to do with handouts.

Eh kinda....

I only say that because political power/favor is still currency....even if it's totally the right thing to do it's still an exchange. Vote for me, send me your money and I'll push your interest in the legislature. Love it or hate it that's the simple version of how shit really gets done in DC/state capitals.

But sometimes those interest aren't cold cash or economic in nature true...that's not the rule though is it? Most of the time, it's about the money.

Okay that's overly broad Bot. When it's money you can argue that people are being bought off but when it's other stuff. . . I mean why vote period if people aren't doing something for you. And I don't mean in a help me hurt them way like Green vs Big Oil where someone has to lose and has to lose in a bad way. Civil Right could be argued as whites losing but that takes a bitof mental gymnastics.

That's why I said kinda.

That's been my point this whole time. Politics is a business.....:)

Sure, there are a hand full of occasions when it's about doing what's right.

But the OTHER 99% of the time it's about getting some MONEY. :D

I think your definition here is a bit to all encompassing. I don't deny that it's a business not a charity, but there are times when business is meant to be good for everybody. Or at least no harm is meant to those not on the right team. I don't support gays because I hate religion. I mean don't get me wrong, I do and sometimes I wish people Happy Holidays to be a prick, or better yet Happy Solstice or Kwanzaa. But THAT'S because I'm a prick. The closest I get to a monetary benefit out of supporting the green movement is those guys vote with me and that has nothing to do with me volunteering to clean up the local area every year. I don't think anybody gets money out of NOT going to war (not that I'm against war so much as against wars that don't seem to have a real point.) so on and so forth.

No you not wanting to live in a shit hole is why you go clean up your local area.

And a feel good =)

No war does put a LOT of funding up for grabs though.

I wish I was as optimistic as you. Unfortunately I think the vast majority of people are shallow greedy fucks that won't do shit unless there is something in it for them and people doing the right thing just to do the right thing is a rare occurrence, not bidnizz as usual.

It's mostly a feel good. I mean I don't go to the park and honestly I drive on the freeway, I don't see that trash when I'm not out poking it with a nail on a stick. Regardless I don't vote for that stuff because I get paid, I do that because I think it's right.

Not going to war doesn't open up funds and we both know it. This is America and if we're not spending that money on war we'll spend it prepping for a war and if that fails we'll give it back to the people we taxed it from which for most of us means terribly little.

I think most people are shallow greedy fucks. I happen to think that in her own bitchy way Ayn Rand was right. I forget her exact phrasing of it but it boils down to the idea that rational men rarely have truly conflicting goals.
