50 somethings thread .....

I just found this thread! I'm 52 and sex has never been better, thank you very much. I'm more comfortable with myself, more open to trying new things, more confident...if I'd known it would be this good, I never would have worried about getting older.

Sure, 20 somethings have nice firm bodies, but they sure as hell don't have the experience we have.

And to top it off, over 50's get 15% off every once in a while at one of the local department stores!

I was born in 56, and I don't know about everyone else, but I don't remember any music when I was that age! But I do remember the 60's very very well! Remember the Beatles playing on Ed Sullivan? My parents wouldn't let us watch.

Hey hisgypsy, welcome. I remember my Dad taking me to see Jerry Lee Lewis & Ray Charles when I was just a lad. :D 50's & 60's music is still some of the best.

Lucky you! We never did things like that, not that I'm complaining, I had great parents.

The first concert I ever went to was 'Yes', probably in the very late 60's or early 70's.

I've seen lots of the 70's rock bands, as a matter of fact, I still have some of the ticket stubs. I still have great parents & feel fortunate to still have them.

I love being 50 something.....best time of my life. As far as music, I love so many different types, went last year to 3 different concerts, Bon Jovi, Travis Tritt and The Eagles....

Hi Peachy, see you finally made it here with the rest of us seasoned veterans of lifes experiences.......:D:rose:

I thought we invented rock music, didn't we? :D

Saw some great acts in the 70s also. Good times...

I remember the Beatles being on Ed Sullivan in '64. I was 5 at the time and I remember it so clearly -- they were playing "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and I just loved that song at the time. LOL

Most of my music influences were late '60s/early '70s though. CSN (CSNY), Carole King, Grand Funk Railroad (anyone remember them??), Stones, Led Zep, Hendrix -- that's what I remember playing on the radio ...

Hi Rox, I remember the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan "Shew", :D I was 9 at the time. I've seen Grand Funk several times, always a good show. Also, I've seen Zeppelin live, unreal, & in my opinion, they are the best rock & roll band to ever step on stage. I've got a Zeppelin DVD, recorded live in the UK, mostly Scotland, that will just blow you away. Another good band, that most people don't remember is Humble Pie. That's another great live show. Ah, the good old days. :D

How is it everyone else's parents let them watch the Beatles??? I'm scarred for life! LOL.

Oh I have very fond memories of Humble Pie, Grand Funk Railroad, Carole King, Mountain, The Allman Brothers, so much good music in that era. I graduated HS in '74 and like all of us, lived with this music daily...there's nothing like it anymore.

And I'm probably committing the ultimate blasphemy here, but I hated Robert Plant's voice in Led Zeppelin...it sounded like nails on a blackboard to me. The only song I ever liked was "Stairway..." Oddly enough, I love the new music he just put out last year "Raising Sand".

Hey hisgypsy... :) Yeah, Mountain was a good band too..... The Allman Brothers are playing an outdoor gig in Knoxville in June. That'll be great....... Plant & Allison Krauss, I think, just put out some nice work. A good case of Boones Farm, a bag of good Jamaican weed & a weekend in the mountains with a group of friends was the way we rolled.... God, it's a wonder we didn't all kill ourselves !!!:D

We didn't have the mountains, only cornfields, but we had all the rest! :) And really, looking back it is a wonder, isn't it?

Yeah, but, damn it was fun at the time. I miss those fun times, as a lot of the people are not on this earth anymore. :( But, life goes on & it's pretty damn good. ;)

Man, some memories being dredged up. Humble Pie is a staple on my ipod. Anyone remember when Grand Funk RR opened for Led Zeppelin and the crowd
boo'd Zep off stage?

Speaking of the Pie, Steve Marriot fronted The Small Faces when they released Itchy Coo Park.

And my parents let us watch the Beatles. :)

What's Up mwmnpa ???

Better watch some of those memories, they may still get you in trouble. Hell, if I can remember anything at all, it's back then. I can't remember yesterday, half of the time. This could be the early stages.. :D Have a good day...

nothing wrong with 50.....my wife is 10 years younger and she complains because i cant get enough!

I'm so jealous you got to see Zep live -- one I missed and always regretted. Did see GFRR and a lot of others. Loved Humble Pie! Sounds like you and I have the same taste in music -- ALL GOOD! LOL

Hey Rox, yeah saw them in Atlanta once & had tickets the next tour through the states when John Bonham had the accident in Greece that pretty much ended it all. :( Nothing wrong with having the same tastes........ ;) How about Alvin Lee & Ten Years After ? Another cool band..
