50 somethings thread .....

I always liked it too. I recently saw a commercial on TV advertising dvd's of shows from the 60's and 70's and that was one of them.

What is it about nurses that cops like so much? I know many nurses who are either dating or married to cops. I'm not one of them.

I remember laugh-in and Love, American Style as pushing the envelope for TV viewing...lol

I met Tommy Smothers one day in a Pusser's Landing pub in Tortolla, BVI. Very sweet man.

Both cops and nurses see things that they need to talk about but regular people couldn't understand. For instance, one time I was removing a very ripe dead body from an apartment. When I picked her up off the sofa where she died, her face stuck to the pillow and came off and the bloated body burst and all sorts of foul-smelling fluids came out, Who couls I share that with who'd understand what I's seen...only a nurse or another cop. Ans back then most cops were guys.

Mmmm, makes for interesting evening conversation, I would suppose since nothing would be too damn disgusting to not bring up. My brother is an EMT and some of the stories he tells makes me appreciate the fact that he CAN do what he does.

Everybody loved to hear cop stories but sometimes you wanted to see understanding in the listeners eyes and not just amazement.
A nurse would be able to empathize, connect.

I understand. makes a LOT of sense.

That makes sense, never thought of it that way.

Just call me the answerman! :D Is there anything else you want me to tell you about? (That's a suggestive hint btw ;))

If you look at my posts, one was on How to kiss and the other was on How to eat p*#&y. Tell me what you think. It should be entertaining at least.

Peace

That's true. The big bosses tell us we can't get too attached to a patient and not show them we care, but it's damn hard to do. We could be like that with others and not worry about whether we will be reprimanded..

We're human, of course things affect us. That's why cops and nurses get together. Mutual comfort and support. Alll humans crave understanding.

Writing can be hard. That's why it feels so good when you write something and people like it.

btw...I didn't mean for that cop/nurse explanation to be so cop-centrric. Obviously nurses see so much and also need an understanding soul to share with.
One more interesting fact:
Individually, cops and nurses have two of the highest divorce rates. However, cops and nurses married to each other have one of the best rates of successful marriage.

Peace

Not to just butt into your conversation ... hope you don't mind ....

I was a paramedic for almost 10 years. Most of my friends were cops. Married one (who then became a lawyer). Unless you're on the street with it or in the ER's with it you can't really know ...

Left it many years ago -- burned out completely.

You and me both. With all the violence and death I vowed that if it ever happened, that I could shoot someone without feeling sadness, I would quit. It happened. I resigned a week later.

I hope you have someone to share with...it really helps.

btw: You have my permission to "butt" into or "poke" your way into any conversation of mine. lol

Peace

Hey, just wanted to pop in and say good evening. Some heavy convo going on. I can't imagine seeing or doing what you do. I have a cousin in the FBI and two Police officers. Not a life I could handle. Take care, everyone.
