Tuesday is going to be an interesting day!

The Washington monument is an an obelisk (as is the Bunker Hill monument but that's obscure outside of the states). It's essentially a thin tower that has a pyramid shaped top. From a European perspective they originated in Egypt (I'm not inclined to say where something so fundamental actually originated, it may well have been Egypt).
