A Game of Chance

3.83? That's a bit disappointing.

I guess the story posted last night.

With 12 votes, it's my lowest rated story with a 3.83.

I guess I knew it probably wouldn't be on the top ten list, but 3.83 is ridiculous. Shows once again, as if we needed another example, how voting is no measure of a story's worth.

Forgive me if I laughed about the PC titled "Scum in Love"?!
I hope you didn't imagine I had left that one!

Inverse ratios...

Hi Dr.M.:

Sometimes I think there is an inverse ratio between the quality of a story and the ratings on Lit., at least when the story is about a story rather than about stroking.

With 82 votes now it's come up to a 4.37. I figure that's a pretty fair measure of how people feel about it.

One comment said they'd give me a 5 for writing, but a 1 for how they felt after finishing it, so they figured that averaged out to a 3. I suppose that about sums it up.

I can't really argue about that. The story's a bummer. I think it's an exquisite little bummer, but it's a bummer all the same.

Just my two farthings

I haven't read the story because I'm overdue to do some dumb income producing stuff, but I read the opening sentences and froze upon the following:

"...Bogdan thought he was being slick, keeping his sunglasses on so I couldn't read his pupils, but I could see the reflection of his hole cards in the curved iridescent lenses of his Serengeti Arezzo’s every time he peaked at them: Jack of hearts and four of clubs."

As much as I love Serengeti sunglasses, they aren't mountains. As I glanced through the lenses of my own glasses, however, the choice of words still piqued my internal spell-checking ability.

I love this place!

Damn! Mea Culpa.

Well, at least it's not "piqued"

Murder in Erotica

OK I feel able to comment on this. A full 50% of my feedback on my non con story are people mad I didn't kill the male character. They are also the only feedbacks I regret because in the original I did kill him.

I let the fuzzy win and didn't go with what was the -right- ending.

The only thing I see wrong with the 'evil' ending, it needs (in my opinion) a tinge more graphicness. a bit of the scent of gunpowder, a bit of the recoil of the gun. The rest of the story is soo sensually fulfilling that the murder is like a break to black and white.

Is J evil *shrug* I don't think so. Does he perceive the world in his own way? yes.

Maybe I read some into the story, but I almost felt he -had- to kill her. He loved her, so he couldn't leave her with her husband. BUT he does what he does and has to remain in control, a man like that can't be dragging some intoxicating woman around or he'll end up dead.

Hmm, Maybe positioning her a bit nicer after the murder would have been better.

But basically, if you think a character needs wacked, a character needs wacked :)

On behalf of intoxicating women, please don't love us if it means you'll have to drag us around or whack us. Let's just be friends instead.

I wonder if anybody answered this. I didn't. If they want to, there are about 100,000 stories they can download. I didn't even click on the link since I don't trust it.

"The Yearling" by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings is a sad story, but a genuine classic. Hint: insist on playing the role of Jodie or his father. In fact, if your group have all read the book, you might have a tough time casting the role of the pet deer
