Near the Swamps of Louisiana, out of the way for even the humble Cajun swamp folk sat a old plantation house. Regardless of it's age, it was magnificently preserved, even the crop field of peppers, tabbaco and rice that the owner owned still grew and died, untouched by the ravages of civilization. It was within this out of place plantation that a tragedy struck. During the time of the Civil war, when the south was ravaged, a young union private deserted to meet his southern raised lover so to run away west. Yet it was not meant to be, the enraged father gunning down the man. Some say if you pulled up the rugs within the daughter's former bedroom, you can see were his blood stained the old wood. Over two centuries has passed while the place has been changed from owner to owner, each moving out weeks after they bought. The story was the same, the sound of footsteps was heard, and brief glimpses of ghostly figures could be seen.. Well the newest seller decided to "forget" to mention the place's haunted past when he attempted to sell the plantation to it's newest prospecting buyer..

"Miss, you'll find no other plantation house at this price. I am honestly losing out a bit of money for selling it to you." the Realtor said, speaking his pitch with a smile that would make any southern born salesman proud "I've spent a lot of money to keep this peace of history restored and up to shape. It seems that no one wants to buy it because they don't like being so close to the locals." he chuckled "The swamp dwellers scared away most of the city folk that came this way. I do hope you won't mind them as neighbors miss.." he spoke, asking for the name of the young successful business woman looking to buy the plantation from him..

Annabelle Harris stared at the huge plantation house in front of her as the Realtor made his pitch. Even upon first sight, she knew this was the place she wanted. Away from the city folk so she could work on her novel in peace and quiet. She already could see where her office would be and how it would be set up in her mind's eye. She then heard the realtor trying to address her. "Harris. Annabelle Harris. You've done wonderful work on the place and I do appreciate the price you're selling it for."

-smiles "well as I said..this place has stood since even before the South succession and it's been kept intact from then..each caretaker giving it the time and effort as.. in my humble opinion, it deserved the care..and that payed off even if I'm kinda losing money out on this deal..known that it'll be kept up and not torn down because of it's age is more then enough for me..now, you need not to worry bout the plants themselves..my associates will be taking care of em..and as long as you keep up the place, you'll get a cut of profits from what we sell. though modest, it only is polite as you own the land and your taken care of it for us..hey..who turns down free money eh?" he smiled as he opened it up..the main room was large and sweeping "and If I remember from hearing ya your the studious type..ya got yourself ya own personal library and study, all the furnature is restored..and of course your modern conveniences of a washer and dryer, Cable and all other utilities are included..a modern Shower and tolet are installed also.." he spoke, he hid the fact he was glad she was not asking questions on why it was so cheap even with all the work done for it.

"I can easily take care of the place. It's too wonderful not to try to keep up." Her eyes widened at hearing the garden would be taken care of for her and she would receive part of the profits. "About how much of the profits would I get?" She was curious about that even though she still wasn't curious as to why it was being sold for so cheap with all the work that had been done on it.

the man paused "..eh..heh. My partners saying ten percent..but I could not in good consonances give you such a raw deal..I was able to talk him up to 30 percent..he begrudgingly agreed cause someones gonna be lookin' over the land, and the crop would still fetch a nice price even locally."he responded smiling hoping it was a distacting enough fact from the house price "Now..let me show you the pstairs." he said after giving her a look over the quite large main room, dining room and kitchen..soon he began to lead her up to the various rooms, the Bathroom, modenized, the study, as he said there was, complete with large balcony that overlooked the front of the house, after he showed the guest room which was remade from the daughters old room he rushed on to show the master bedroom, not wanting to dwell in that room for too long, though he did his best to hide this fact "Now..the master bedroom.." it was doubled door, large and spacious..the bed even had one of those old curtions that went around it, this also had it's own small library of sorts, a large collection of books, which was a fraction cmpared to how big the studies was.

Annabelle nodded, understanding the fairness of the percentage set. She wasn't dare going to ask for higher than that but at least it gave her some funding to live off of. She was in absolute awe as he showed her the different rooms, not even noticing the realtor's unwillingness to remain long in one of the rooms, though she did feel a slight chill in this one but she shrugged it off and followed. When she saw the master bedroom she couldn't resist but to jump on the bed and feel how soft it was.

The old southern gentlemen could not help but let out a chuckle- "Think mah grand daughter did the same whens he first saw that bed..heh.." he had a moment of sementalty giving a nod "again..glad to see this house going in such good hands..now if everythings set, I do have the paperwork downstairs to be signed." giving her all the time she liked to explore the master bedroom he lead her back to the dining room table where he had the papers out and ready..he took a moment to take out a ink well and pull out a old fountain pen taking a moment to fill it "heh..call me old fashion.."

Annabelle watched the southern man fill his fountain pen. "Oh it's no problem at all. Some habits you just can't break no matter how hard you try." She waited patiently as he prepared the paperwork.

After singing a few sets of papers he slowly handed it off to her with a smile "And it is set.just need to sign a few things..and honestly you can move in by the nights end, given how fast payment is turned over" he spoke softly turning the papers to her with the pen

Annabelle nodded as she took the pen and papers from him. "That sounds perfect. I definitely plan to move in right away." She began reading over the paper and signing where she was supposed to.

And with that, the place was hers, the gentleman went on his way with a tilt of his hat. "And in a few days this place will be yours to call ya own..gotta give a few days the check to clear."

Roughly four days later she got the good news, the check went through and she was the proud new owner of a beautiful plantation home..knowing each event that goes on the force bound to the old house knew a new tenant had taken it..the ghost was invisible for all intensive purposes..cause if he showed himself the fatal wound that killed him would be visable.,as of now he just watched her as she entered her new home.

Annabelle spent the first full day after she got the news her check had cleared moving into the house. With the place being already furnished for the most part, that made it less things for her to pack from her old place. Once the boxes were in their respective rooms, she began unpacking the things inside and organizing.

Always with her was the ghost, a ever watchful presence, not malicious but more curious about her and where she came from..surpised a woman had gotten this far in her life, when she did not look various things were moved about..mostly he poking around to learn about her..he did his best to put it back as he left it..but from time to time, something felt off about it..like a object he looked at was moved slightly or postind in a different way then it was..she was beautiful too..been years since he's been in the company of a woman, and one this beautful..he was a bit shameless in watching her, though he was raised to be a gentlemen, he not once peeking in on her bathing or dressing..he knew the woman he died for moved on without him, married and was happy with him in heven..he was the forgotten tragic lover.

While she did notice the movement of some things, she let them remain where they had been moved to. She was the type to believe in spirits and only smiled. "Well, if there is any otherworldly force here, I welcome you as long as you're friendly." She smiled as she set down to work on her novel

It grew curious when she stated that..he moving foward to watch her write that novel..a chill was felt as he approched..just something natural to his aura as a undead ghost..something that contrasts the warmth of a living person. He was not directly over her but nearby..very briefly..not sure as to speak up yet..though if she payed attetion..she could see the curtans shift as if someone brushed up upon them.

Ironically enough, her novel was a ghost story, set in a plantation house just like this one. The ghost would be able to read what she had of the story so far on her computer screen. She had barely caught notice of the curtains moving but had shrugged it off as a bit of wind blowing

-he could not help but let out a little chuckle from the irony looking over what she wrote..the device was curious enough as it is but he kept watching..not thinking his hand moved foward to lean on the table she feeling a human hand brush on hers he froze seeing that as he began to shift away, the sudden action creating the sound of footsteps..he was doing so good before

Annabelle had felt the hand and heard the footsteps. "Hello? Anyone there?" She set out a pen and paper. "If you can hear me, give me a sign with this pen and paper."

it was slowly moving close, the pen lifting in the air as it began to slowly write out in a old cursive handwriting,..it was clear "..Hello mam..I didn't mean to intrupt your work.." this was the fisrt time he willingly reveiled his preseince to someone..and it made him nervous.

Annabelle smiled. Whoever this presence was, they seemed to be polite. "You didn't interrupt my work honest. I can use this encounter to help my work. What is your name? I'm Annabelle."

"Lawrance Rogers. Freinds in unit refered to me as "Lars" the man wrote out as he paused "You..are the first not shocked by my presence Annabelle..you have a very pretty name" the man was old fashond.

"Nice to meet you. And thank you." She blushed at the compliment about her name. "I didn't know this house had any sort of ghostly presence when I bought it, but I'd heard stories about ghosts roaming the halls of big places like this. I love such stories. You said you were in a unit, so you were in the military?"

more was written "Union army, 82nd Regiment. Came from New york. Died here. Deserted army to be with southern woman, was killed by her father...souls been bound here." he wrote out..soon enough he added "your welcome..it's been a long time since I've been with a woman as pretty as you..was raised to be a gentlemen."

"That sounds so tragically romantic. Had you at least had a chance to spend some time with her before you were killed?" She was enjoying speaking with him, even if she didn't hear his voice.

"No..had about a day with her..hid in the attic..was killed in her room infront of her..girl was young..she found another forgot about me." he wrote after a moment the pen sifting like he was thinking he wrote "beleve some items of mine are still hidden within the attic.
