A glimpse at Vixie's life

Hey guys and gals...

Sorry I've not posted in some time.. I've been online a little in the past days, but can't seem to get comfortable enough on my couch to stay put.

I had my CT scan last week, and it was one of the most painful things I've had to deal with (just the movements, the position I laid in, etc). It blew. The last week has been okay.. I've had improvements in my walking and sitting, but I ache deeply in my body at night, and I'm getting sleep-deprived.

I find out the results of my CT scan today.

I do have good news, though: I've lost about 30 lbs, and I've gone down a dress size (and a half).. yay me! (the weight loss is over the last few months, not just since I've been out of commission). I'm feeling great about myself, and went to buy a bunch of new clothes on saturday. All a size smaller than the last time I shopped!

:)

Okay, I'm going to go try to lay in the sun (and be comfy)... ttys,

Vixie

Okay, so I'm going to include a few pics I took recently.. keep in mind that, as I'm not very mobile, they are just of my face... sorry.

Well atleast you're able to be back here with us Vix. I hope you can get comfortable and move without pain soon.
Congratulations on the weight loss. You're pretty lucky there. All the surgerys I had that put my out of commition(10 surgerys up until age 16) just caused me to lose MUSCLE and I actually GAINED ten pounds.....still gotta get rid of that...and since I'm only 5'2 it REALLY shows.
I hope the results are good news on the tests.
I gotta go do an MRI at 7AM tomorrow.....and I'm NOT a morning person:mad:

I hope you get well soon and I hope you enjoy all the little jokes I've sent to try and make you smile.

You'll have to model for us when you feel better. I'm sure we would LOVE to see the results.

hey you! Glad to hear you are feeling better. You look great. Damn your eyes are amazing. I hope that you are more mobile soon. Talk to you later.

Okay, CT results:

I have a hemmorraged disk in my back. This means that the disk has a tear in it (and the ligaments around it), and that disk fluid is seeping into the small cavity around the disk and vertebra. This is bad. The short description is a slipped disk. Because the disk (being kind of deflated) has moved and is pressing not only against some nerve that affects my left leg, but also against the main sac of nerves in the spinal column, and could cause serious harm if further aggravated.

Right now, I do NOT need surgery. This is a good thing. I'm beginning therapy next week, but I'm now off until August 3. If my job fires me, they fire me, whatever. It's not my fault.

I have to do excercises for my back every day for the rest of my life now, and that's alright, but it's something to adjust to. I have to be VERY nice to my back.. no lifting, not much bending, some walking, but if anything hurts, I am to stop right then, because it could take NOTHING AT ALL to make my back worse. And if it gets worse, then I WILL need the surgery.

So there you have it.

Awww hon!! *hugs you* Well at least you don't need surgery. Isn't the surgery nothing more then a disc fusion?

No, it's more than that, in my case. And it requires MONTHS of recouperation.

So let's hope I don't need that.

As a sufferer of massive chronic back pain I can relate. I can go months without a hint of trouble and then bend down to lift the toilet seat and WHAM! Screwed for days.

Alas back surgery doesn't have a real great success rate (depending on the problem) so I just deal and press.

Exercises! That has helped me more than all the physical therapy. Although I must admit those tenz units sure did get the imagination flowing!

Take care of yourself hun.

So today is the first day of the rest of my life. And I'm awake before 6. *wry smile* This does not bode well for my mood. But it has allowed me to watch my sweetheart sleep for a little while, and to get a start on those excercises.. :) My back is killing me, but it's not worse than I've had thus far.

Thank you for the well-wishes!

(saw your pics in Shadowsdream's thread.. lovely.)

WOW....well I hope you can recover and I REALLY hope you don't need surgery because that really sucks.

I'm not sure exactly where you are, but if you need the name of a good doctor let me know and I can ask one of mine if they know of someone good.

I'll keep an eye out for some good jokes to make you smile.
Take care of yourself kid
*BIG HUG*
