A Hypothetical (Another AI Post)

Tens of millions of people willingly live in fire zones in Southern California. They pay extra to do so. Many of them even stay there after fires destroy their neighborhoods; they rebuild, knowing it'll only be a matter of time before they burn again. They do this for the same reasons folks live anywhere: they've decided that the benefits outweigh the costs. People do this all over the world: in Siberia, in Tornado Alley, in earthquake fault zones, in tsunami areas, along floodplains...

Very demonstrably, not everyone is like you.
Not everyone is like me,

And I can live with that.

Choosing to move to a potential disaster area (as this portion of the thread suggested) reminds me of the song by the Alan Parson's Project: "I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You."

They may not want to be like me, just as I wouldn't want to be like them.

So you're staying out of California, right?
YES, as well as staying out of sub-sea level depressions (New Orleans), tornado alley, the Gulf coast areas, and the Atlantic coasts of southern U.S. states!

They might be nice to visit, but not to buy property in. The insurance rates for full coverage of those potential disasters are far more than other areas. Your particular house or area might not experience a disaster. But your insurance rates to pay "just in case" covers all of the other similar houses which are hit!
