A keyboard for the Electronic Author

Okay. I gotta admit. I'm seriously interested....

Actually the guys on Slashdot say that using this keyboard their typing speeds go way, way up (because it forces you to learn).

But I bet is cost's as much as a small car.
They say it will cost less than a good mobile phone. Which, of course, could be as much as a small car.

So they save money on not printing anything on the keys, say they use different swiches and they charge $80 for a USB keyboard when you can buy a regular keyboard on ebay for about 8 bucks.

Gotta love marketing. Call it "Premium" and they will buy it.
Hey! *pout* I want one. :D

Not me. I can't even find the right keys when they have text on them.
Worse than that, I'm comparing it with my own keyboard, and the blank one doesn't have enough keys! Any non-English speaker (typer?) would be doomed!

Well, the gaming keyboard's not real useful. Any serious gamer has developed the fine art of WASD-ing down to an exact science. I doubt you'd find a gamer willing to lift his fingers from those spots. Serious gamers are all about response speed, and if you're using the QWERTY keys to control your character, typing into a chat window means you don't have to shfit your hand. More importantly, after you're done typing, you don't have to shift your hand back in order to dodge the fireball, grenade or laser blast heading your way.

The optimus keyboard is pretty damn slick though. A seriously nice idea, and actually much more gamer-friendly (although any serious gamer will have all of his macros and hotswaps memorized anyway - Who needs a missile icon on the F2 Key? You should know it by heart! The millisecond you spend looking down for the missile icon on your keyboard might mean the difference between life and death ;) )
