I intend to recruit a few more writers a little later on in the story so feel free to send me a message if you're interested in more info. Available roles will include the princess and one of her father's knights. There is the potential for other characters, so if an idea strikes you, feel free to send it my way. Thanks in advance for your interest!

Enderthal City, the capital of a human Empire, was remarkably quiet at night. That is not to say that criminal activity was not rampant under the cover of darkness; it merely implied that such things were conducted in an efficient (and subtle) fashion.
A nameless association lorded the revenues from vice-driven industries and morally corrupt endeavors – a council of Elders maintained order among the assassins, thieves, dealers, and whores. Upon joining the crime syndicate, members were expected to forsake their birth name in the interest of muddling identities. Elders re-designated individuals during their induction ceremonies. After generations of this practice, an emergence of legacy names occurred. If you were a run-of-the-mill recruit, or not superbly favored from your particular field, likely your handle would be borderline ridiculous.
Such as: Redboot. The young half-elf woman was a skilled thief – the Elders had even gone so far as to call her promising. She was quick, stealthy, and she had an uncanny ability to detect and disarm traps/alarms. Despite only being in the association for a few years, she was relied on heavily for high priority item extractions. Redboot was confused, then, when her superiors gave her a new task – one in which she was almost certain was beyond her skill set.
“I’m not a whore or an assassin,” she reminded the Elder flatly.
“Redboot… I’m not asking you to do this. I’m giving you orders.”
The woman frowned and studied the older male for several moments. “You honestly think I’m capable of murdering a legacy named assassin?”
The man leaned back in his chair nonchalantly. “Hopefully it will not come to that. Both of your lives are in your hands – keep him distracted…and happy. If you fail to convince him to remain uninvolved…”
“In what, exactly?”
The man narrowed his eyes slightly. “Just keep Reaver in his fucking house for a couple of days. He cannot be permitted to have contact with anyone but you. If he gets involved in anything while under your watch, you had better have died trying to stop him or you will face a fate far worse than death.”
The woman gave a defeated sigh. She knew she didn’t have a choice in the matter – the association was all she had. “Why me?” she asked after a short pause.
The man scoffed. “I’ve been informed that our friend the assassin has a taste for women with pointy ears.”
His words cut on multiple levels. Redboot tried not to show it. Her violet eyes watched unflinchingly as the man mocked her race and gender in a single fell swoop; she had no defense. So far as society was concerned, the half-elf was a shameful product – and in this part of the world, they were relatively rare. Whereas elves had once lived within the Enderthalian Empire, the more recent of human generations decided that elves were meant to be slave stock so most of the race fled rather than remain and serve. Redboot was only “tolerated” and spared bondage because she was born to a human mother of some status. Still, few humans felt compelled to treat her any better than the slave she may as well have been. An honorable life wasn’t an option - the association was truly all she had - the Elder knew this. When she didn’t respond with a refusal to go play nice like a good little whore, the man smiled cruelly and slid a paper across his solid wooden desk.
“Here’s his address. You need to be there five minutes ago.”

Redboot approached the residence with an understandable amount of apprehension. Had someone sent a message to this renowned assassin ahead of her arrival? What had happened between him and the association? What did he know that they didn’t want getting out? Was the situation tense enough that this assassin might eviscerate the association’s offering on his doorstep?
…Was it possible that the Elder was just fucking with Redboot about the importance of her ‘distracting’ his favorite assassin?
The half-elf woman wasn’t sure whether she should be afraid or angry.
As she stepped up to his door, Redboot took a deep breath and resolved to remain strong. She had to get through this. She knocked heavily, thrice, and waited.
Redboot briefly considered her appearance. Her Elder had all but directly insisted that she sexually occupy the man for a few days – and yet the woman had not taken time to change into the provocative dress of a prostitute. She was at the stranger’s doorstep in her usual ensemble; the garb of any thief. Or assassin, she mused. Both groups had a tendency to primarily wear black. She imagined a glimpse at her dark leather armor peeking out from under her hooded cloak and immediately moved to reveal herself more properly.
The hood dropped to reveal golden hair that cascaded over her shoulders in a soft curl. She was fair skinned and seemed to have primarily elven physicality - she stood 5’6” and was of a slight build and sharp features. The woman opened her cloak and allowed the material to rest on the back of her shoulders, giving a full view to the occupant of the residence that she was not actively armed. Her armor wasn’t impressive – unless one was looking past the thin leather scraps that “protected” the womanly curves underneath. Redboot’s breasts were a firm and perfectly rounded C cup; her small frame supported them marvelously. Her body was trim and toned as well as one would expect of a nimble rogue.
