I love Pokemon, and have wanted to do an rp about it for a while, but could never enjoy writing about capturing animals and forcing them to fight. I don't mind playing the games or watching the anime, but for some reason, when I am actually writing it out, I can't see it through. So, I have decided to put a little spin on it.

In ancient times, dragons ruled the world, with nature spirits at their side. These spirits are the Pokemon in my world. At some point in the past, the dragons killed each other off in an epic war, leaving the world in chaos. The spirits decided to help the human tribes, who were lost without their "gods," and together they restored order.

As time went on, the spirits discovered that certain humans had the potential to wield Nature Magic, so long as they remain in close contact with a spirit. Thus began a long tradition of spirits bonding with infant humans who were born with the Mark. The spirits came to be called Pokemon, the Draconic word for "Nature Spirit," and the Marked became Pokemon Trainers, because they trained under their Pokemon companion. When their companion decided they had mastered their Pokedex (Nature Magic), they became a Pokemon Master.

Unlike the normal Pokemon world where the humans send the creatures to fight, the humans themselves do the fighting in this world. The Pokemon share their wisdom and teachings with the Trainer, but they refuse to fight themselves unless there is a dire need, such as to save someone's life or defend the helpless. Humans started the practice of using their Pokedex to fight each other, but only in friendly battles, as the Pokemon would not allow wars to be fought in fear of them killing each other off like the dragons had.

To ensure this, a council of Pokemon Masters and their Pokemon was formed and they created the United Republic. The High Council built Castelia City as their capitol, and after four great Pokemon Masters helped defend the city from rogue Pokemon invaders, they were elected as the guardians of the region. The region became known as Unova, and the heroes became known as the Elite Four.

If one of the Elite Four died or retired, the Council elected a new Master to take the spot. Over the centuries, they established Elite Four groups for other regions, such as Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. They became the leaders of their regions, and employed other Trainers and Masters as Rangers to help maintain order.

To help scout for potential Rangers, and to give people a focus for their powers to let out pent up tension, the High Council created the WCL (World Combat League), and established divisions for each region. Each Division had eight Gym Badges to collect, which would gain them entry into that Division's annual Championship Tournament. Battles were fought in teams of four, modeled after the Elite four structure, and the prize for winning the tournament was a hefty cash reward, as well as an invitation for the winning team to the Battle Frontier.

Once a year, a few months after the tournaments had all ended, each Division's team of Champions travels to Victory Island, where the Battle Frontier is held. At one end of the island, there is a town called South Port, but other than that, the entire island is covered in forests with Mount Soren at the northern tip. The goal of the Frontier is to be the first team through the forest and up the mountain, because at the top are maps showing where eight hidden pendants are. Then the teams have to get to one of the locations on the map, find the pendant, and get back to South Port. However, since their are dozens of Divisions in the world, and thus dozens of teams in the Frontier and only eight pendants, a team that gets a pendant will have to constantly fight to keep it and get back to the town as fast as possible.

When all eight pendants are returned, the eight teams that claimed them are given a week to rest before the Battle Frontier Ultimate Showdown, in which they all enter a massive battle royale against each other, until only one team is left standing in the ring. This team receives a bigger cash reward and become celebrities sotospeak, traveling all over the world at the expense of the WCL, speaking at conventions, doing ads and commercials, etc. This lasts for one year, until the next team steps up. Once a team has won the Battle Frontier, they cannot re-enter, but can still fight in exhibition battles, or they may be offered permanent jobs within the WCL, the Rangers, or some other organization. Eventually, they may even become the new Elite Four of a region.

So, it has been many centuries since the High Council was first formed, and that puts us in an age of computers and technology. Our characters are four highschool friends (2m/2f) who dream of entering the WCL. They are some of the most talented Trainers in Pallet Town, but they have to wait until they are all eighteen to enter. They develop a fierce rivalry with Gary Oak and his three lackeys, Red, Azura, and Greena.

Our characters basically go along and fight in the various Divisions, finally winning an invitation to the Battle Frontier after competing in the Unova tournament (after trying in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh). Additionally, they also have run-ins with the Rocketti mafia family and the Dark Hunters, two of the largest criminal organizations in the world. Unfortuntely, in recent times there are many rogue Pokemon who want to overthrow the Council.

A child born with the Mark is bonded with one spirit, giving them power in one of the four Astras.

Red Astra: Heat/Fire/Lightning
Blue Astra: Water/Ice/Healing
Green Astra: Rock/Sand/Plant
Yellow Astra: Air/Wind/Force

My character will be the Yellow Astra of the team. I need another male and two females to play the others. You can take the three abilities named for your Astra and mix and match them however you want. Like, for my character, he can control air currents to push or lift things, blast out wind to knock enemies down, and by concentrating the air and wind, he can create a force that can more steadily levitate things, kind of like telekinesis, as well as create a sort of wind barrier to repel projectiles and spawn up massive windstorms.

So, anyone interested?

I'm interested if you don't mind. It sounds really exciting and I always wanted to do a pokemon type RP as well. :]
If I can join I would love to be the blue astra, I think it would be something fun and exciting.

Alright, cool. So, are you male or female? We definitely wanna make sure we get equal pairings, unless someone wants to play a gay character, lol.

Hmmm. Considering changing the power set up to better match Pokemon. Like, if your Nature Spirit is a Charizard, then you get all the ability sets it has, but you start out with the ones Charmander has, and build your way up. Not sure. What do you guys think? To have a better array of powers in battle, we could say that each Trainer can bond with up to three Pokemon at once. There is the one they are bonded to at birth, and then they must earn the respect of others.

If a Trainer has bonded with three Pokemon and wants to have a fourth, they must first undo their bond with one of the others -- though they can never break the bond with their Starter Pokemon. If the Trainer is on good terms with a Pokemon when they break the bond, that bond can always be re-created later. Some Trainers may be friends with dozens of Pokemon, calling on whatever two they think they'll need for a fight. The Pokemon will either live at the Trainer's home when not needed, or they may return to the wild or the Spirit World until called upon. A Trainer can call out to any Pokemon they have bonded with in the past by using a sort of spiritual telepathy, if said Pokemon hasn't blocked them.

So, let's say you currently have Charizard, Raichu, and Blastoise bonded. You can hop back and forth between their powers in battle, or, if you're very experience, you can fuse them together, such as an electrified water blast or a firebolt of sorts. Whatcha guys think?
