A pirates life for me: Episode II (ooc)

Welcome back, in general I bet the consensus is this thread died to soon.

Jedi I didn't even know you were still interested... I mean, I didn't see your interest to come back on the Ressurrection Thread....

Anyway, if you do come back. I'm sure that Larinya and Max may have a few problems. SImply because he's a snake... and she's a cat :D
If you're using a new charry, then good luck to you on that.

To be completely honest, I had no interest in the thread until I thought up the new character a few days ago.

I wonder how the crew would interact with someone who wasn't completely organic (meaning, more machine than Darth Vader).

Well Gen is cybernetic, so he'd have a back up medic/mechanic.

Cybernetic, bah. What I have in mind is cyborg, i.e. Terminator/Ghost in a Shell style. Besides, its doubtful that Gen would have any experience with his level of technology. You'll understand when I post up a description later.

Hmmm... I was given to believe that Cat's (Gen) character was a floating brain thingy with mechanical parts for a body (not that it has a traditional body in the sense of the word.)

I saw like the Borg Queen when she was ripped from her 'body'... except no face or skin.

I thought Gen was all brain!

Note to Cats: If I'm wrong, I'm terribly sorry :D I read your bio when it was first put up and that image's been floating around in my head for months now :D

I see, thats not to bad of an analogy but not what I had in mind. She is a brain wrapped around a mechanical body. The way I invisioned it was like the first terminator, where the organic flesh is replaced with brain.

In any case the brain doesn't float, and is far from a normal human or animal brain. It is effectively brain and muscle at its base the solut is kind of a fleshy blob but the muscle quality lets it shape itself and cling to its endoskeleton. Its also an adaptable lifeform capable of shaping psudo organs as needed, such as her eyes.

And then these brains are obsessed with appearance and carry extensive cosmetic tools that allow it to manage eye color, and hair implants. The skin texture is generally matched and skin color is managed via the make up kit.

Basically she looks human but weighs to much. If she swapped out for a lighter skeleton that would be hard to spot, but she won't.

well after a week of serious drinking with my long lost brother and my new sister in law i have returned,

Jedi- I didnt list max because you had shown no interest

Angelus- Cale is perfectly welcome back aboard

as soon as Jedi shows me what hes working with we can move on, sorry about the delay.

Here is some info on the race I've thought up for my character. Please note that this is only preliminary info; I will be adding more to it as I come up with more stuff.

The Elatani are a scrawny humanoid race that resides outside the boundaries of both the PGC and the Empire. What they lack in strength and durability, they’ve more than made up for with their intelligence and dexterity, leading to a highly technologically and scientifically advanced society. The Elatani are very well known in many circles for their technological capabilities, specifically their cyberization of sentient beings, for a hefty price of course.

The Elatani are neutral in the conflicts between the PGC and the Empire, and they strictly enforce and protect their neutrality with a defense fleet that would ensure, and has ensured, a very unfavorable cost-benefit ratio for anyone who tries to change their neutrality by force. Their neutrality is also prominent in their foreign policy: if either the PGC or the Empire were to make a business deal with the Elatani with regards to advanced technology, the other side will receive the same deal at the expense of the side initiating the deal. This policy has had the effect of keeping both the PGC and the Empire from making any deals with the Elatani.

A full grown Elatani stands at about 5ft3in (+/- 3in) and a hundred and ten pounds. Elatani are look like normal humans, except for the steel-gray color of their fingers.

Elatani Cyborgs

Elatani cyborgs are difficult to distinguish from organics, the only sure way to tell, if you aren’t exactly on friendly terms, is to hit the cyborg. If you hit a cyborg with your fist, you’d most likely end up breaking your knuckles, because underneath the skin of the cyborg is a 1/8 inch layer of metal plating to which the skin is attached. The metal plating acts as armor, protecting the vital internal workings of the cyborg, while still allowing normal range of motion.

The metal that makes up the cyborg’s internal skeleton and sub-dermal plating is a strong Elatani alloy that allows the cyborg to survive hits that would kill or critically wound organics. On average, it takes three hits with a pulse weapon to critically wound or kill a cyborg; the first shot blasts away the skin, blackening the metal plating beneath, the second shot breaks through the metal plating, and the third shot does the real damage. The sub-dermal plating also prevents melee weapons, such as swords and other cutting or piercing implements, from doing real damage to the cyborg. At most, melee weapons will remove the cyborg’s skin and dent or scratch the plating underneath.

Elatani cyborgs don’t use bulky hydraulics or noisy servos to move about. Instead they use a synthetic muscle flesh that is very efficient, makes no noise, and can be molded to fit any frame. The synthetic flesh is similar to real muscle in that it responds to electrical signals from the brain, but synthetic flesh is much stronger and more durable, providing the cyborg with incredible strength, many times that of organics of similar build. The cyborg’s skin is also made of a synthetic flesh similar to the synthetic muscle flesh, but it is much thinner and does little more than provide the cyborg with a sense of touch and a covering for his metal parts.

Elatani Military

While the current Elatani military is formidable, it lacks actual live combat experience due to most threats to the Elatani people having been dealt with generations ago. Only the PGC and the Kreeyar Empire pose a threat to the Elatani now, but only if they were to focus their undivided attention upon the Elatani and devote a significantly large amount of resources against them.

Of the Elatani military, only the space fleet has live combat experience, having driven off many attacks from both the PGC and the Empire. But of the space fleet, only the ships of destroyer size and smaller had taken part in the combat; the larger ships had stayed out of visual range of the battles. In those battles, the Elatani ships faced off against often superior numbers of ships equal in size and larger to them, and still managed to win the battle with the most serious damage being a few smaller vessels having taken damage to their hulls.

While both the PGC and the Empire know the Elatani had larger vessels in their fleet than the ones they’ve fought, they have yet to see them in combat and are reluctant to, considering the damage the smaller ships had done. What the PGC and the Empire don’t know is that the Elatani have a much larger military force than what is in the Elatani system. The Elatani, in fact, control at least ten other planetary star systems that lay beyond the Elatani system, well outside of the range of the PGC and the Empire.

The PGC and the Empire also don’t know the extent of the Elatani’s military capabilities, mainly their ground forces, including infantry and mechanized units. The Elatani military, however, is eager to show off to the PGC and the Empire, mainly by taking several nearby star systems that would provide a buffer zone between the Elatani home system and both the PGC and the Empire. The Elatani government is steadfastly opposed to open hostilities, which includes the hiring of outside mercenaries and pirates to cause trouble, towards either government and therefore keeps the military on a short leash. The military gets around this opposition by using a private company that is not under the control of the military to send out representatives, mainly cyborgs, to locate and contract pirates and mercenaries to cause trouble and to show off some of the Elatani military hardware.

Elatani Combat Armor

Of the hardware that the military wants to show off, they particularly want to show off their mechanized infantry, otherwise known as armored cyborgs. The cyborgs themselves are not much different from normal cyborgs; it is the armor that they wear that makes them different. The armor is made from a high durability metal alloy that most other races would rank as worthy of being put on heavy star fighters, but the Elatani rank it for tanks and cyborg armor. Most handheld weapons used by the rest of the galaxy are incapable of penetrating the armor, with most shots simply bouncing right off or being absorbed. Heavy weapons, such as those normally used in stationary emplacements or multi-man crews, and explosives have the best chance of actually penetrating the armor used by the cyborg soldiers. However, the armor used for cyborgs is not as thick as that used on tanks, so only high explosives (or starship weapons) can damage Elatani tanks.

I'll come back as Cale but I don't want to step on Larinya's toes by coming back as the sergeant at arms. I'll just be a lowly raider or something else aboard the ship. Is there an opening for security chief?

Khan, it looks good to me, and Angelus, you may be the security chief, we'll say that max pissed one-eye off and caught the business end of his taigu

Can One-eye at least have a couple bones that Max broke before he was beat? I can't imagine a situation where anyone could take on a massive, intelligent snake, kill it, and get away with no injuries.

And I hope there's room on the ship for a tech specialist/engineer.

if youd like, but theyll mostly be healed by the time this one picks up, but just for you ill have him walk with a bit of a limp

and yes

How about a scar for good measure. (I know I am not involved in the conversation but scars are cool.)

Jedi when I get a chance I am going to pm you to work out some cross species background.

Okay, cats.

A scar would be nice. Perhaps on an arm where Max's fangs just barely scratched him, the potent venom preventing the scratch from healing completely, thus the scar.

Cats - Thanks for the explanation! I now have a new and more accurate picture of Gen! YAY!

Jedi's race sounds interesting... but I like my mew-mew!! Ha! (sorry too much sugar... or not enough... hmmm)

Erm... what else? Umm... does that mean that I'm higher in rank to Cale? Or equal? Ugh... I hate ranks... *mumbles*....

What else? erm... dunno. I'll stop here then.

Whoa, Wolfsister, you got an IV of sugar water going into your system or what?

If you think the race is interesting, wait until you meet the character.

*shrug* you know well enough what's got into me... (head)... ugh... now I got a head ache so I'll be heading off. Sorry.
