A ridiculous question

You poor, poor people. You're so desperate to exist that you have to spend all day thinking. Here's something you don't have to think about. You just sent a box with a diamond to the other end of the universe so you could refute a dead man, doh!
While I'm at it "Suppose then that the boxes are jumbled up and one of them is randomly taken across the universe, some 10 light years away (if that were possible)." Then we've already proven his theory incorrect, haven't we?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ :cool: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Don't worry, be Nunca.
Short answer. Einstein was wrong. The speed of Light is not the fastest, the speed of thought is. (Though not in some people)
Light, or what we perceive as light, must pass through space, interfered with by many factors.
Thought does not. The knowledge of the diamond in the box doesn't have any space to travel, so it's instantly there, in our thoughts, when we open the empty box.
Though to be truthful, I would prefer the box with the diamond to be here at hand, for scientific study of course!!!
Wandering off whistling a very familiar tune and pretending I am blonde. (which this answer might have confirmed already)
Please will someone explain to Never the importance of higher thinking - even if he can't himself see the benefit. Actually that's the paradox, isn't it? It's a bit like a person with bad eye sight losing his spectacles - once they gone, he has a small chance of finding them again.
You are a brilliant bastard arent you our slutboy... and I come on the computer to relax!
Da chef
Surely thought travels through space too?
It travels though our nerves and neurones to and from our brain. It is certainly not instant.
Slow down there...school zone!
Do you know how fastyou were going Ma'am? The speed limit here is 186,282 MPS...
It is physically impossible for matter to exceed the speed of light. I know that people used to think the speed of sound was unbreakable...but that is truly apples and oranges...sound is a compression wave through matter
As matter approaches the speed of light it's mass increases proportionally...upon achieving light speed the particle would achieve infinite mass therefore requiring infinite energy to go faster...not to mention reaching infinite density.
This has been proven in accelerator experiments where subatomic particles have been accelerated to .999 light speed...
Gotta have some absolutes in the universe...
Maybe one thing could exceed light speed...your fiance's reaction upon finding out her engagement ring is 10 light years out in space...
Knowledge is instantaneous...you know the box light years away has the diamond because the box here doesn't...if you do not open the box here you will have to wait 10 years for this knowledge...or has this been postulated already...
Did UPS or the Postal service handle the packages...if so...then it probably won't get there..LOL
I realize it's not instant, Flagg, but it's pretty damn close. I mean, how long does it take the brain to register that the stove is hot after you (or a small child, for example) touch it? Almost instantly wouldn't you say?
True. But how long do you have to stare at a light bulb before you realise it is on?
Depends on where I am in relation to the light bulb. I can know that the light bulb is on even if I'm not staring at it, simply by entering a room that is illuminated during the night.
With that in mind, then you would be agreeing with me, Flagg, in saying that thought travels faster than the speed of light, correct?
Now stop confusing me or I'm gonna end up agreeing with you! ;)
The worm and bird
Actually the early bird technically catches the late worm. Worms are supposed to be done doing what they do before the early bird gets up.
Oops, sorry about the gender mistake - Never - it seems like it was me who didn't his spectacles on.
My head hurts
I don't think it proves that thought travels faster than light. It can, at best, suggest that thought travels as fast as light. But then again, when you perceive light is it the light reaching you or your perceptions reaching the light?
Actually...
The thought process may be slower...
The distance a thought(electrical pulse) has to travel is very small..negligible some would say..it would seem instantaneous in that case...if you stretched the nerves over ten light years my guess is that the speed would be much slower than light...
In the amount of time that it would take for the sensation of pain to reach your brain light would probably have traveled about halfway to the moon..
I feel the need for SPEED!!!!
YEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAA!
Flagg, I think that this is the exact point. Knowledge of the light bulb glowing doesn't reach you - it is in fact the light generated from the bulb that reaches you. And upon reaching you needs to be interpreted by the sensory perceptors. And at what speed? Well at the speed of light, of course, because it is light in travel.
You guys spend WAY too much time thinking with your stupid little heads.
Hey, there was us thinking we were being all clever n'all when deborah comes along and shows us what intelligence is really all about. Just can't beat her...
Imagine what we could do...
...if we thought with our "big" heads!
You should try it sometime Deborah.
Damnit I couldn't resist! hehehehehehehehehehehehehe
Let me put this in proper perspective. I don't give a shit if the bird catches the worm. What I care about is whether the bird eats the grass seed I throw on the bare spots on my lawn. Doh!
Hmm, lights, diamonds, speed, and grass, sounds like a low-budget movie.
Sorry, but after spending the morning over slut_boy's lap, coherent thought is just not possible.
Since you are newish here, sweet Kitten Eyes, I thought I would warn you. Girl to girl.
Slut boy's lap is an addictive thing. Just the thought of being near him, in our white panties and short skirts, has many of us willing to go back to school for "lessons".
mmmmm you are right merelan...if we all had our choice slutboy would never stand up again.....
Well, turn about is fair play. Since Slut boy wouldn't share the reason behind his handle, we could make him earn it. Imagine, Slut boy in the white panties.
(whistles) Here boy! Dammit, where DID I put those zip-ties?
