A silly lit dilemma

I do not intend to ever be a 20,000 plus poster.

I don't know why, but it is not something I want to do.

So, does anyone have any suggestions?

If I stop at 19999 posts, does anyone have a suggestion for a new nickname?

Or would getting a new id be an affront to litsters sensibilities and etiquette?

I know, sounds absolutely silly, but I have been thinking about this and I don't like being identified by my number of posts and to hit that milestone just greats like fingernails on my mental chalkboard.

Thoughts?

Or should I just go have more java and get over myself?

:D

Can you ask Laurel to reset your post number? Or maybe do the thousands in roman numerals?

AWWWW ..i dont know you all to well, but if i were you i would take pride in what you have added to this site with all your posts. *shrug*

ahhhh, MissT.

I vote for the last option. Get another cup and get over yourself.

LOL.

Look. Here's what I think. *grin* You did ask...

First off...be true to yourself. Changing your screename?? C'mmmonnn. You won't feel like "you" and everyone out here will be calling you MissT anyhow and it will be confusing as HELL. Along the same lines...you made every one of those posts along your journey to where you are today. Why all of a sudden disavow them, just because of some problem with the number 20,000?? I say, work on getting over it.

Secondly, it seems to me, the only people who count posts are the people on the General Board. I sure as hell never even notice them. I didn't even notice how many you had until this post this morning. I know you post over there as well, and perhaps you should give some soul-searching thought as to why you have a problem with "20,000". It could be something you might want to address within yourself.

So. Long story short. Keep the name, and let the count roll on. You've earned it.

i've heard that the japanese are masters at implanting fresh hymen. However, that will hardly make you a fresh virgin.

If you would allow me to play you my flute, you might become a born-again virgin, though.

IMO, you should try to not be a 50,000 plus poster...

You COULD consider your posts like gray hairs, they are a crown of glory. :D
But Miss T, you must keep your name, you ARE Miss T and anything else just would not smell as sweet.
As for the numbers, don't think of them as adding up posts, think about them as times you are touching other people's lives, whether for good, bad, or just plain entertainment. You are a contributer, and that's what counts. You don't just sit and keep quiet, lurking in the shadows, you are one that gets involved and, in the process, makes things just that much better around here. :rose:

on topic: MissT, who cares about your post numbers? I agree with some others here who say nevermind. Keep your name and keep your numbers.

It's all really cool just like it is. ;-)

The only post mark I care about/cared about was reaching one hundred so I could get myself some fun AVs

Having more posts gives you a little more crediblity to me ... I mean I'm only in i think the 300 range but even I am noticing people in the 10 to 50 range who come and go pretty quickly.

You were one of the first names I became familiar with here on Lit and you should be proud of that! It is meant as a compliment :)

well, i don't think you have to go changin' just to avoid hitting a certain post count, but if you feel very strongly on the issue, i do have a suggestion. why not go as MissT? we all know you as that already!

May I say how great it is to see the return of this AV Miss T!!

Thank you! *blushing*

It was time to "get real" again.

As for my post count, thank you everyone for your input. I probably will remain as is and keep the count.

I would like to say though that all a post count is indicative of is "staying power." or lack of anything else to do for large periods of time. (That was me!) It shouldn't be seen as a means of determining credibility. There are some with far more posts than mine who lack credibility and there are some who would say that I have no credibility. To each his own.

Frankly, credibility is built upon your words, your insights and consistency. Some achieve that before achieving their avatar, others never achieve it.
:)

However, as has been pointed out, post count seems to mean a lot less here than elsewhere at lit.

You women and your numbers. :D

I say forget about 20K and just keep going. It's not a big deal. Besides, who ever heard of a moderator with 87 posts??

That didn't come out the way I meant it :(

Hmmm... I can't think of a word that I meant though. I remembering being at a loss for the word when I wrote that and even still I can't think of it. I just meant to say that - oh screw it, I don't know what I meant to say. I'll admit it. I made about as much sense as cheese-whiz.

However, I say do whatever makes you feel most comfortable.

And I'm glad you stayed ;) I will say that the Miss made me think you were a dominant at first and I still sometimes mix that up. I'm not mixing it up am I? I should make a list...

Maybe if you had something to look forward to, when you reach that 20,000 mark.

Maybe another 20,000 marks...if you catch my drift?

It won't take as long for this 20,000 to land, but I will take my time, for sure.

Sure, some of the marks would be sensual, and sexy. That't the main idea, isn't it? When you have 20,000 of anything to dish out, you can make the most of 'em.

:)

You saying I'm old? Don't test me. The only problem I see would be finding a new spot on your naked body to put a mark on. I would venture to guess after 20,000, you might be just one big red mark!

P.S. I know after the first few thousand, I would be getting my second wind.

And do you remember what your dad or mom would tell you, before a beating? "This is going to hurt me more than it is, you." Well, in this case, that wouldn't be a true statement.

No brag, just fact.

I never figured out where people got all their posts from in the first place. I mean really, I've been at lit consistently since a bit over two years ago, and I still haven't earned the right to choose my own title. Grumble grumble...

But I say if you have access to that El Dorado of hidden verbal wealth, you might as well flaunt it.

I have posted a lot of crap in two years.

One liners
jokes
flirtatious comments
sarcastic replies

And about 2/3 of my posts really are not "stand alone" posts. The posts I feel that serve a purpose are the posts that taken on their own, out of the thread, they still manage to say something. Maybe that something is right or wrong, but the content is still in tact.

Don't think you have nothing to say because your post totals are lower than some.

Shit, that tells me someone actually picks and chooses what they want to say. That is a quality individual. Some join the forums one month, and a month later are hitting 1,000 posts. Don't you think the rest of us might be a little tired of them, by then?

And, MissTaken is a moderator. They tend to post more than the rest of us do. It's the job.

Speaking of moderator, I have a question for you, MissTaken. The Lit system has recently stopped sending me a message when someone posts to a thread I'm registered with. Do you know (off hand) what I need to check? Is it something in my setup at Lit, or should I look elsewhere?

It's funny. I'm a computer person, but I am drawing a blank on this. But, I KNOW you have seen this before, right? RIGHT?
