hello .....welcome to the board.
[hijack] stalking Mz. Christa[/hijack]

anyway...from what i have seen here, Todd stopped in to say hello and everyone jumped him. So what if he is a christian? Who gave us the right to judge whether or not he means what he says? You know, we can not judge everyone by the sins of the few. If that were so, we would never have gotten this far. Come on people, lets be fair!!!

Damn good post!

OK, I give him the benefit of the doubt once again... maybe we can get a dialogue going this time

Todd, are you there?

Let alone the notion that Lilith was Adam's first wife... Does it occur to you that Adam himself was at one time hermaphroditic until Eve was separated from him?

Comment?

I do have to get to bed soon, though I am more than open to discussion.

Hmm... not sure who Lilith is... don't remember her from the Bible... and as for Adam being hermaphroditic... I don't think so. Eve was created out of a rib taken from Adam's body. She wasn't just lurking around inside him... so to me, that wouldn't make him hermaphroditic. (And dang, that is ONE annoyingly long word to type! LOL)

Non-confrontational biblical advice? It certainly seems you are baiting and fishing here...

Your threads always want so kindly to offer "advice". ... but, if you remember, I was non-confrontational and you still haven't answered my questions regarding animals having souls... care to go there again? I'll dig up the posts if you'd like...

What are you trying to stir up here?

He said he wasnt preaching, just wanted to be friendly. You keep tossing questions at him to try to start an argument.
Pretty obvious whos trying to stir shit up if you ask me.

Actually...it is a belief (based upon Early Jewish folklore(?)...) that Lilith was Adam's first wife...she was tossed out of eden because of her resistance to being *wifely*. In Paganistic belief systems..she is also the mother of all witches.

As for hermaphroditic...and Adam. Since the original meaning of the word is to have both sexes contained in one body...then i would not consider it to be so either. Just because (by biblical teachings) it says absolutely nothing about Adam being both sexes at once...only that God used his rib to form his wife...marking her as part of Adam...but not in a purely literal sense. I hope that helps...

TY - I was answering someone elses question - or trying to. Heehee...

As a Christian - to the person who asked about Lilith - we I guess do not believe in the existence of a Lilith. We believe in the story of creation and Adam and Eve as it exists in the Bible. Or more accurately, I do not believe in the existence of a Lilith, and do not have anyone in my circle who does either.

Gee, I'm sorry... In Todd's own words he was offering answers. How would he do that if no one asks him a question? So far I'm the only one that has... and as usual, conveniently enough, he has not come back to answer it..

But never the mind... I'm outta here. God forbid (pun intended) I challenge anyone's free will to think for themselves and possibly break the chains that bind.

BTW, of course you wouldn't have heard of Lilith. The King James Bible only reveals what he thought was appropriate (probably for political reason).... and he was a misogynistic bastard :)

my cinternet access is on again off again as I can only use it at a public access center and only on one puter that isn't connected to the highspeed server. I haven't forgotten you animal soul question Image.

Thank you all though for a few more pages I have to save and work on at home, It will be fun, and is fun to work on all this stuff. But it's costing me a fourtune in manuscripts and greek/hebrew/aramaic stuff. Why can't it be all simple straight forward english after all if English was good enough for Jesus it should be good enough for all {that was a joke as jesus spoke greek to my knowledge}

Hi Todd.

Hi Todd,This is a joke right? Tel me you are a funny guy.If not, then I appologise.First off,if you are sincere about being a concerned Christian, you don't have to add "righty" of "fundamentalist" as a prefix. Most Christians are neither. If fact the right wing and the fundamentalists are exploiting religion for their own personal gains and have absolutely nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus.By the way,Jesus spoke Aramic (sp) not Greek and certainly not English. If you are for real, then welcome.Nobody has anything to fear from honest communication.Oh yea,I almost forgot to ask,Your Avitar,Is that you dressed as a bride?Inquireing minds want to know.

Asking questions is one thing trying to provoke somebody is another. You accused Todd of baiting and stirring up shit but thats exactly what you were doing.
Nope none of us can think for ourselves without your passive aggressive ass guiding us.

It's not in "folklore" it's in the Talmud and the Kaballah, Talmud is a series of religious commentaries on the Bible that are studied in Jewish tradition, the Kaballah is a series of texts that are mystical in nature. There's mystical Christianity too, it's not this weird Jewish voodoo without a counterpart in the Gnostics and Saints and what have you.

In this tradition, Adam and Lilith were orginally a hermaphroditic/siamese twinlike thing. Eve got created when Lilith showed that she wasn't really going to work out. Eve was take 2, and she was infused with Adam's more Godlike spirit rather than her own, more uncontrollable one.

Thank you Todd :rose: I appreciate the fact you remember my concern about whether or not an animal possesses a soul...

To update anyone wondering what this is about... Several months ago Todd had another thread and the subject was broached. He was of the opinion that since nowhere in scripture was it stated that animals have souls it must be the truth.

All the work I've done with animals tells my conscience otherwise...

What do you think?

Hmmm...I have been a practicing Shamaness for almost 8 years. I work with animal spirits and totems on an almost daily basis. So, Yes, I do believe that all animals have an essence or soul. Mayhap it is not the same as a human's especially since most animals (esp. those of the wild) have no right or wrong..they have basic instinct. Nevertheless, i believe animals can communicate with one another and with US, therefore why wouldn't they deserve a soul as well??

Am I the only one here who has seen Gays and Lesbians walk into a church?

I know it is supposed to be some big sin, but how many other people sin weekely and then attend services.

All I can say is Practice what one preaches. If you can truely say you are without any sin, then preach away brother.

Well, as I said, Lillith was new information to me. But, I also will be the first to admit I don't know everything (or even as much as I should at times) about theology. I will try to take some time and look that thought up. (*FYI: I never said it was folklore. That might have been someone else.)

IMHO, I'm not sure there is "mystical Christianity" as such. I know, I know, many of you will think I am close minded, etc... but anyone who calls themselves Christian, in my mind, needs to have their views line up with those in the Bible.

As for the King James thing... That's a tough one. I'll have to see where some of the other translations took their original work from - the King James or other, older manuscripts? Again, not usually my strong area of knowledge... heehee.

And lastly, I, for one, am not saying, implying or making any other claims to being perfect. I know that I am far from it! And, I also know I have had many discussions with those in my church about how sexual sin is viewed as worse than any others, although the Bible states "sin is sin." I personally have not seen someone who I can say for sure was openly gay walk into a church... although I know for a few years we had a man who enjoyed cross dressing who was a regular attender.

Jesus spent much time with the criminals, the outcasts, the sinners, etc. I do not think we should ostracize them at all... no matter what the sin.

And Lastly - Todd - I am very curious why you started this thread, for many reasons. First, I do feel the title of it is a tad inflamatory. Secondly, I think it's great (if this is seriously a concern of yours) that you are on here, presenting your views.... but I STRONGLY believe that Lit is not really the forum for it. Only because most people on this board - especially the GLBT board - are going to be pretty set in their views. Healthy debate is great, but it really seems like it might just stir things up more. Especially since, technically - as a Christian - we probablly shouldn't be frequenting ANY of Lit's boards... I also strongly believe that before you can try to "preach" to a person, you need to earn the right to "speak into their lives." Just some thoughts...

Yeah, it was early Jewish mythology. According to a lot of other traditions (Pagan and otherwise), Lilith is also the mother of most of the human race, including Cain's wife. It's where the term "Lilim" comes from.

Of course, you still have to wonder about any religion that claims to be about peace and love, but whose chief god is an idealized protojewish tribal chieftain. The judeo-christian god is most definitely NOT a creator, but a warrior. Ever read Exodus and Genesis? He certainly comes off more as a tribal warlord than anything else, what with demanding all his weird loyalty oaths and demanding all the unbelievers be purged from the world so his "chosen" could take their lands and properties...
