After the cheers....

Diana Stevens

(OOC;.. yeah I noticed that too.. LOL.. ok, we're even!)

IC:

pfeewww..I thought to myself while smiling back at him.
My whole body relaxed.. all was well now.
"I'm Diana Stevens, sorry for not mentioning that earlier, I was overwhelmed I guess" and continued still smiling "I'm Dutch.. I'm from Holland.. eh.. Netherlands, you know.. ?"
I added that because he looked a little surprised when I said it. I wasn't sure if he got it right. Many people don’t..

We got to his car "Wow" I said and he looked at me ".. I'm sorry, but I just can't get over how big the cars are here".

He unlocked the door and held it open for me. hmm.. polite! I thought I like that! I climbed in.
And there I was. Sitting in his car while I watched him walk over to his side. The tall handsome stranger who's name is Connor..
While he got in I straightened out my summer dress, letting my fingers slide over the soft fabric.
I turned to him and as he was about to start the car I said “thank you so much for doing this! You’re really helping me out Connor!”

Connor MacNeill

I walked around the Explorer after holding open her door, or I floated...

"keep calm, Connor. You're just being a good samaritan."

I opened the door. and got in, I started it up, saying, "I haven't been to Holland before, but I would like to, I've read books on it before, it looks and sounds quite lovely."

I pulled out of the lot, flashing my pass to the guard at the gate. A quick left turn, and we were headed for Virginia Road.

Or so I thought.

We entered "Vista Estates", where I thought she lived, but as we entered, I remembered that we were on Virginia Boulevard.

"This isn't it, is it?" I said.

Diana Stevens

“well.. yeah.. Holland is fine. Tiny, flat, but there are a lot of old towns and they are really beautiful. And then of course the canals and rivers.. not only in Amsterdam you know! Like any country it has it’s pro’s and con’s.
One of the con’s being the weather by the way. We’re famous for that.. well.. next to the drugs, the prostitutes, the tulips and the wooden shoes of course..”

He smiled “of course”

We turned into Vista Estates.. “This isn't it, is it?" he said
“uuhh.. nope!” I said, nope.. I had a somewhat more basic apartment really..
Taking the conversation of the minor misunderstanding I asked “So? Do you pick up a girl after every game?” I naughtily smiled at him, showing I was only kidding..

Connor

"Oh, yeah, I try to make it a different one every game, just to keep the variety up. You know, the spice of life and all," I said, grinning to show MY playfulness.

"Hang on," I fired up the GPS system in the truck and typed in, "Virginia Drive", it pointed me in the right direction. I looked at Diana. "It helps to have the little toys. We should go back to Waveland Avenue, then west about 15 minutes. No big deal."

I looked at her legs for the first time...smooth and lightly tanned. Plus, they were nice. This woman was very nice!

I just smiled at him like an understanding woman does, as he displayed his little gadgets.
"Well.. you know what they say: the only difference between men and boys, is the size of their toys.." still smiling.

"I never really understood how to understand that.. you can go two ways with that.." I grinned.

He looked at his toy and had figured out which way to go..

"You know..." I finally started after taking a deep breath "I really appreciate the fact that you are willing to show me around town, but I live on Virginia ROAD..".
I tried to look seriously at him but I could hardly keep my laughter..

Connor MacNeill

I laughed. "I'm sure by now you must think that I have no idea where I am going and just want to take you back to my place. As for the size of my toys, you'll just have to wait and see, for I love time saving gadgets, and my computer. I'm kind of a techno-geek when I'm not either travelling, playing or training."

I couldn't believe my boldness! The size of my toys? What was that? Back to my place? This wasn't me, this was some alter ego that had sprung forth. Okay, so maybe it was my dick doing the talking. It had been kept silent for a loooonnnngggg time.

"But, ma'am," I started in with a fake Texas drawl. "I shall endeavor to have y'all home in a jiffy." I looked into her eyes...smiling...oh, yeah! I was driving a vehicle!

"So, who sent you to a baseball game for what seems to be a first assignment?"

Diana Stevens

My eyes twinkled as he was kidding around, responding to my teasing. His boldness coming out, us both starting to feel very at ease in each others' company.

Well.. enough at ease to make jokes anyway.. I loved that. During my high school and college years I had been working in bars.. 10 years all together.. and I LOVED playing around verbally with men. And with girls as well for that matter.. Always just on the edge. Teasing each other, arousing each other verbally. I was addicted to it.. I needed it, and I couldn't help myself from doing it. And one way or the other I always managed to find the right manner for doing so with any person.

Other than a quick, quasi surprised “oh?”, I did not really respond to his “my place”.
His decent side probably told him to come back on his offer when he told me, in a deep Dolly Parton voice, he would take me home. I loved the accents, Illinois, Texas, New York.. I have always found them extremely funny, so I laughed out loud as he smiled at me, only to quickly turn his eyes back to the road.

"So, who sent you to a baseball game for what seems to be a first assignment?"

“hmm..” I started as I regained my posture “some local newspaper.. I don’ really remember. It was a trial.. and somehow I don’t think I’ll get the job” and I could only laugh.. I couldn’t care less. It was just another silly idea anyway.

“How about you? Did you get into baseball in high school or something? That’s the way it goes around here isn’t it?”
I looked at his big hands on the wheel and for a split second I could see how his hands would firmly embrace my firm naked breast.. my nipples hardened even thinking about it..
My heart missed a beat thinking of all the other body parts it could be touching..
I had to snap myself out of it.. before my respiration would become any faster..

Connor MacNeill

"No, I started laying ball seriously when I was 7, a great many years ago. I was scouted in high school, signed to a contract just before college, went to Arizona State for two years and then jumped into the minors. Spent two years in the minors working on my slider and then to the pros, where I've been ever since. It's been a long road, but I have almost everything I could want..."

Have you ever heard yourself say something and couldn't believe you heard yourself right, so you didn't say 'just kidding'? Well, that's what happened next when I said,

"except you."

My mouth was dry, I was sure my knuckles were white on the steering wheel. I couldn't speak...what the hell did I just say?

ooc

OOC: This is very fun, Medusa (if that's your real name....) You make it very easy. Just wanted to let you know.

Diana Stevens

I just smiled at him gratefully.. flirting.. right? He was just flirting.. But as I look at him I know, somewhere, that he’s not.. well not like the guys in the bar, the fast-boys..

I make a joke out of..
“honey.. I say smiling.. I am ALL you could ever want!” Laughing out to make sure I didn’t seriously meant that, that way.

That was to break the ice.. I return to being more serious. “So.. actually your whole life evolved around baseball then?.. I don’t mean to be rude.. but.. uhm.. what do you plan to do afterwards?”

OOC

Thank you sweety! You are easy to play with!
I'm enjoying this thread very much (a little peace and quiet compared to...)
My real name is actually Diana (go figure..), nice to meet ya!

Connor MacNeill

"Whew, dodged a bullet," I thought to myself.
"All I could ever want, huh? Sounds like you know what guys like me want. But, I might surprise you."

I laughed to keep it light, but I could feel things getting a little intense.

"After baseball I have a few options, I could get into the front office, and the team has already said they'd like to have me around. I'd like to take a crack at running a team, someday."
"If not, I have invested in some horses. I keep them stabled on a ranch and they are trained and well looked after. A few race, and I have two young colts that really are doing well. I'd look to do that, open a stable, hire trainers and just relax after baseball."
"What is your ambition? What do you want to do?"

We turned onto Virginia Road.

Diana Stevens

“Horses?!” My eyes grow big and glister “really?! I’ve been riding horses professionally since I was six.. well, didn’t ride the competition until I was.. I don’t really remember how old I was. But it has been quite some years. My horse got sick, we had to have him put down.. and.. well I was busy with my studies and all kinds of other circumstances, so I didn’t pursue it after that. Oh god” I’m almost jumping in my seat at this point “I have not been on a horse since, don’t ask me why, but I would love to so much! You need any help?”

oh no.. I thought to myself. Now I probably sounded like somebody trying to make plans for the future right away, dig myself into his life.. make commitments.. oh no, god no, that was not the way I meant I at all! I don’t want commitments.. not yet anyway..

I quickly continued, not even giving him the chance to reply to that one. “What I want?.. well.. actually.. “ I laughed “I don’t know yet! The thing is, I just graduated from the International Business School in Holland, I studied International Marketing.. but then I was finished.. and I just can’t picture myself writing silly reports on unimportant things for the rest of my life. You know what I mean?”
I looked at him. For the first time since we met, less than 45 minutes ago, I was being serious. Not kidding around.

As I looked at him I noticed we were already on Virginia Road.. “oh.. ehm..” I looked around “It’s right over there”. Just a few hundred metres more, he looked at the numbers and pulled over. Number 42.
I was supposed to get out know. He turned his upper body towards me, leaned back. Watched me with a friendly face awaiting for me to either finish my story or step out of the car.

I wasn’t ready for this yet. I still wasn’t ready to just let him walk out of my life.. or me walking out of his actually, depending how you look at it.
“Listen.. eehhmm.. as a token of my appreciation.. can I offer you a drink?”
please accept.. please accept.. please accept was the only thing running through my thoughts..

Connor MacNeill

Suddenly, I was nervous. Here she was asking me to come in for a drink. I hadn't had anyone do that for a long time. I felt like a school boy again.

"Um, I, uh, um, yes, sure, of course," I stammered. "Now that I've made a complete babbling idiot of myself, yes, I would love to take you up on that offer."

"Great, Connor," I thought to myself. "Aren't you just charming this woman off her seat."

I pulled the Explorer into the driveway and checked my watch. "I'll just have to call the nanny to let her know I'll be later than expected. I hope my son is in bed."

Diana Stevens

It hit me like lightning..son I heard it echo in my mind oh.. of course he’s married.. I should ever meet a single guy.. I should be so lucky!
“No problem” I said, swallowing down my feelings “you can call her at my place”.
.. wait a minute.. nanny?.. where’s the mother? I gathered all my courage and boldness

“Are you married?” I couldn’t look at him. I asked him while stepping out of the car. My face turned away from him. The other advantage was he couldn’t see me biting my lip.

I looked at the stairs leading to the apartment building. Making it seem it was a very normal question, not giving away that I couldn’t breath since my heart was pounding in my throat. I began searching for my keys, it seemed an eternity before he answered.

Connor MacNeill

"No, not married, Diana, widowed," I said quickly. "My wife died 9 years ago of cancer, just after having our son." God, this didn't get any easier, did it? Too many nights not even knowing what city I was in or who I faced, so consumed was I with grief. For the last four, it has become easier. I was enjoying my career. But, I still missed her from time to time. The pain threatened to well up again, but I took a deep breath, and moved around the truck to her.

"I have spent all my time since either playing ball or raising my son, Brendan," I said, opening my wallet and taking out a picture. It was one of my favorites, Brendan with a stethoscope listening to daddy's heartbeat.

I looked and saw her stop biting her lip and start smiling. "We're just a couple of wild and crazy boys. He joins me on the road once school ends. We have great summers."

"And you? Married? Kids? Large bodybuilding boyfriends who might be upset with you having a late drink with a ball player?"
I surrrrre hoped not.

Diana Stevens

Widowed.. “I’m sorry” I said softly. I shouldn’t have asked I said to myself. I really was sorry and bit my lip even harder. Feeling a grief, not mine, but his.
But the face of his sun, Brendan, made me smile again.. the proof of all the good that had come out of their marriage..
There was so much I wanted to say, so much I wanted to ask.. but now was not the time. All in due time..

"And you? Married? Kids? Large bodybuilding boyfriends who might be upset with you having a late drink with a ball player?" he asked as we headed towards the building. I had found my keys in the meantime and led the way up the stairs.
I smiled, turning my head slightly so he could see the smile, but not looking at him. Instead looking to the steps.

“No.. none of that” I said. I took a deep breath “I have been in a relationship for eight years, but I broke up with him about a year ago. Since then I never really wanted to get into a relationship.. no one really interested me so far”
I turned the key opened the door but froze. A twinkle started in my eye.. and I turned around and looked at him. “Except you”.

I smiled mischievously at him, referring to his own earlier remark.

Connor MacNeill

I gulped. She was amazing! She seemed to know how to dance verbally. I was in tough, because it had been so long.

"Except me, huh?" I said. "What is it about me, if I may ask? Is it the Armani, the Explorer, the job?" I grinned, knowing this wasn't the case.

"I'm kidding. I'm flattered that you've asked me up, and don't be afraid to ask me anything. I have no secrets, except for the month I spent in a Tibetan jail." I laughed.

Diana Stevens

I started laughing out loud.. “That’s funny!” I burst out. I started laughing so hard I tumbled into the apartment building, holding on to the doorknob in order not to fall.

“I’ve asked you up because you’re funny” I said while leaning against the door, letting him in past me. My head slightly falling to one side “And because I think you’re a good man.. I trust my senses on that”. and now I want to kiss you .. only thinking the latter, not saying it out loud.
He smiled.. what else could he do.

I closed the door behind him and walked to the elevator, my apartment being on the fourth floor and I didn’t want to be out of breath.. I hardly had any to begin with at this moment.

“I am honoured you were willing to give me a ride.” I said smiling my most loving smile.

The elevator door opened, he gestured for me to step in first. He followed. I leaned against the wall. “I.. on the other hand.. have many secrets” my face displaying I was teasing and in fact opposite was true..

Connor MacNeill

I entered the elevator. A little small, but I ignored any slight claustrophobia by noticing how close and cozy we were.

"Secrets, huh?" I said. "I'll bite, what's your darkest secret? Okay, mine is that I won't really bite, just nibble." I laughed again, feeling almost a little too easy. My heart was hammering in my chest, so hard I was sure she could hear it.

She laughed along with me, and I continued. "No, my deepest darkest secret..." I cleared my throat. "Is really not much to tell. I've pretended, with my teammates, that I've had a few liasons with women, when in reality...it's been a long time since I've been with a woman in that way."

"Nine years," I added, almost too softly to hear.

It was not very polite but it was out before I knew it "nine years?!".. my eyes had grown big, I sounded a little too shocked. I regained myself..
"ahum.. nine years, ey.. really?"

Ok.. I had friends who hadn't been with a woman for two years.. but nine.. my god.
I took a deep breath. "Yeah.. ok, that's reasonable". Naturally I didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable, so I returned to the secrets.

"Hmm.. well.. my biggest secrets are that I DO bite.. and I like to be bit" I smiled from ear to ear at my confession.

Fourth floor.. My apartment was just at the end of the hallway. I turned to see if he was following.

wauw.. I thought while looking at him I can't believe he is actually walking here.. in my apartment building.. with me.. I must be dreaming

Connor MacNeill

"Oh, dear, was that out loud?" I was kind of mortified, but I HAD said it, so...

"Now, being bitten isn't such a deep secret, I was expecting something a little more racy." I said.

"Hoping actually." I looked at her with a bit of a smile on my face.

"This is just going too well," I thought. "How am I going to screw this up?"

Diana

“Hmm.. “ I said, standing in front of my apartment. I put the key in, but didn’t turn it yet. Instead I turned towards him “hmm..” I said again, looking at the ceiling and putting my index finger over my lips as in thinking really hard.

“oh.. maybe you mean my secret that I’m not really from Holland but from Washington and I had to vanish in order to save my life because I did my internship in the White House?” Looking at him with a quasi innocent face..

Connor MacNeill

That broke the tension...I laughed hard.

"That's hilarious, Diana! Brains, beauty and a sense of humor, too? Would you like to have dinner sometime?"

I was really intrigued here. I hoped breakfast might be before dinner.

Diana

I blushed under the compliment, I smiled genuinely. “I’d like that”.

I opened the door, my heart pounding like crazy.. god.. I never want to wake up again, this was the ultimate dream.. well.. it could get even better.

Again stepping inside letting him in.. closing the door behind him. Same ritual as downstairs only without the words this time.

I took off the camera from around my neck and placed it on a little table in the hall way. “Welcome to my humble home” I said, stepping into the living room. “I don’t have much comfort yet, just moved here like I mentioned. But I do have a fridge, would you like something to drink?”
