Well, that's not set it stone. It's just that in order to have the variety desired, the shorter pieces are easier to juggle. There probably won't be more than 1-2 longer pieces in each volume. (15,000 words would take up about 1/5 of the entire book -- which doesn't leave much room for the other stories.)

Long Distance Vetting

Because of a death in the family I will be out of town for almost three weeks. I will take my laptop with me but the place where I will be going will not have any internet connection. I can travel to the local library sometimes and communicate from there but it will be rather intermittantly.

I am in the process now of downloading some unvetted stories to my HD and I will be going over them and offering my opinion and sending recommendations in editing. I hope this works out allright.

Monday morning BUMP. More stories & poems vetted. Please forgive me for juggling the tables a bit -- I moved all the vetted stuff to the top and alphabetized by author. It was getting hard to manage otherwise. If you're reading, hit the poems first -- with a few more of those vetted, we'll have enough to launch with TWO volumes (assuming everyone gets those files & illustrations to me on time) -- or, at least, have the 2nd volume released soon after the 1st.

Thanks to BT & Mat for getting their edited stories to me already.

SUBMISSIONS​

Story submissions: Posted HERE. READ 'EM! PM me your endorsements (or post 'em here). PM the author any recommended edits. Be nit picky, please. Everyone wants a quality product. It makes us all look better. To be vetted, a story needs at least 10 endorsements. TIPS: Shorter pieces (<10,000 words) are easier to fit into the anthology puzzle. Third person POV is preferred, although there will be a mix of voices.

Poetry submissions: Posted HERE. READ 'EM! PM me your endorsements (or post 'em here). PM the poet any recommendations.

Art submissions: Kick ass cover art or photograph (in color) is needed as relates to the title/subtitle, plus an illustration relating to each story and perhaps other random illustrations for otherwise blank space. Keep in mind that CafePress has options for merchandising (t-shirts, mugs, stickers, tote bags, etc.) for our cover art image!

Rhinoguy has posted several grids of illustrations HERE, and would like folks to give the "coordinates" of those they endorse.

EDITING​

Once your story has been vetted, please get crackin' on a thorough proof/edit.

Make sure (at the very least):

• all homonyms (its/it's, your/you're, to/too, who's/whose, etc.) are correctly used;
• all quotations are properly punctuated and closed;
• unspoken thoughts are italicized (rather than quoted);
• ellipses are appropriately used;
• adverbs are not overused; and
• passive voice is kept to a minimum.

We need a name for ourselves -- collectively -- for the overall copyright.

As stated in the first post, everyone will retain the rights to their own work & a copyright acknowledgments section will be added at the end of the book listing a "reprinted with permission" for each item.

However, in the front matter, we must list a copyright for the entire volume. I am not interested just putting an individual name there. I'd rather have a name that reflects the group of participants (so if this becomes wildly successful, we can drag it through the courts and fight over it all).

I don't want any volume to feature more than 1 story and/or 1 poem per person. We have lots of poems submitted, but not by lots of poets.
