I have been asked to help a writer (through the Editors Program) with a story that he/she says he/she has 'just used AI to enhance'. I'm new to the site, but my understanding is that if the story is submitted, it will be rejected, anyway, because the use of AI will be detected. So would I be right in telling him that first?

Yes, I think so. I'm also part of the Editors Program and I would let them know up front that they are likely to be rejected if any AI is detected in their writing. To my mind there isn't much point in both you and them putting time into something that the site probably won't publish in the end.
I would ask if they have a pre-enhanced version of their story and if you're inclined to, you could offer to help edit and humanly 'enhance' that.
Being brutally honest, unless their own writing is very bad, AI will not enhance it. It will just make it generic, bland and possibly a bit non-sensical.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the texts are being rejected by AI, because the site is using an AI tool to check if it is AI, right?

"First?"

You'd still get involved with this, knowing that you'd be party to breaking the rules if it were ever submitted?
What? I said nothing of the sort. You literally know none of the facts, and therefore you are completely wrong. If you are determined to appoint yourself as the police, let alone judge and jury, I suggest you ascertain at least the basic facts before making ludicrous assumptions and offensive accusations against innocent parties.

You didn't not say it.

I asked questions, man. Lighten up. Thanks for answering them. Now I understand, because what you said before sure did sound - to me - like what I asked.

You're welcome to be as offended as you want, but calling it an accusation is just not factual. Now who's making ludicrous assumptions.
