Having an early rejection for "obviously ai or low quality" done by ai is not a bad thing. But a single person proof reading for an entire site is ridiculous.

You should tell Laurel (may she live forever) how to run her site. I'm sure she'd love to hear your advice.

And llms are not going away, so a better solution is needed. Honestly the site just needs a normal ass "trending" list with a decent algorithm.

There are plenty of reasons for not wanting AI-generated or -assisted content on the site. Ethical, legal, environmental, artistic. It's up to Laurel and Manu (may they live forever) what they will and will not publish. They seem happy with their choice, and the site continues to attract readers and writers.

LLMs might not be going anywhere, but if they were really so brilliant their advocates wouldn't have to keep telling us so.

Has anyone ever considered this? Maybe these posters who come into the AH arguing that there's nothing wrong with using AI are all alts set up by Laurel (may she live forever) to see who responds, and how. Anyone who disagrees gets added to the "nah, I don't think they're using AI" approval list, anyone who agrees gets a "keep an eye on this fucker" mark.

New theory: Laurel (may she live forever) uses alts to argue for AI so that everyone else gets absolutely sick of just the mere thought and wants nothing to do with it.

Very unfortunately some genuine authors (including ones I have beta read for) get false positives. That sucks, but the actual issue is the morons submitting AI slop in the first place. Without that, no problem.

The whole point of using AI to "write" stories is that it requires little or no effort. That personality type doesn't care at all if they're harming actual writers or actual publishers, or actual readers.

The people who are getting false positives are the most harmed, but not the only, victims.
