Aligosa is a wondrous place. Both magic and science, coexisting. Those without the magics, those deemed with Talents, have created talent of their own, a talent borne of alchemy.

The inhabitants of this place are even further a wonder. Humans, crossbreeds, creatures that seemed only parts of the imagination. Perhaps at one time they had been? The creation of a talent- or perhaps, of the magic?

This world is a wondrous place, indeed. Parts divided based on the beliefs and cultures, living mostly in unity despite these separations. A seemingly content coexistence of letting each be to their own ways.

For the most part.
There are some... not so welcoming of these divides.

---------------

This is basically a combination thread of two of my favorite things: Full Metal Alchemist and the Xanth series from Piers Anthony.

For those who don't know the Xanth series, I'm merely borrowing the concept of halfbreeds and Talents from that. Talents can be dang near anything. Here's a list of some of the Talents from the books. See? ANYTHIIIING.

From FMA, I'm borrowing the setting style and the alchemy. Homunculi would exist. The cohabitational divides are controlled by military. The State Alchemists are a part of this, as are State Magicians. (These are high grade Talents.)

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Name: Nari Mai
Age: 20
Appearance: See here.
Talent or Alchemy specialization: (Talent) Nullification.

Bio/Personality: A naive thing, Nari comes off as an easy target for thieves and con artists, but easily makes up for this with her Talent- Simply saying "No" can cause a temporary change of mind in others, or in the case of those with Talents, nullifies their magic. She needs to be careful, however- to follow this with "Yes" enhances the previous thoughts or the magic she had cancelled.

The realization of what she could do came when she was a child- easily convincing her parents to give in to her whims and requests, as well as those around her. Scoldings and complaints seemed to fall short, and the girl could easily get away with just about anything.

Over time, she decided not being able to argue with others only made things boring, choosing instead to go quiet. Now a dancer at one of the local pubs, Nari happily keeps silent most of the time and rarely brings up her talent unless she feels the need to.
