Almost got the courage to go to a GLBT support group meeting

Just found out they don't have monthly meetings. They have weekly meetings! After the weekend I'm starting to have, I'm totally getting the confidence to go! I think I'm gonna do it!

Good luck girlie, remember what I said before and just go and take that first step:rose::kiss:

I can't go to the one tomorrow! I'm scheduled to work! :( If my schedule is open, I'm definitely going to the next one. I gotta get out there. I gotta come out. It's like there's a woman inside me, screaming for release (not that kind perverts!) ;) And I can't quiet her voice any longer...

I'm a 'lurker in several threads that you post in, and I've been sensing increasing desperation in your posts about your desire to outwardly be the woman that you are on the inside. It's been heart-wrenching sometimes for me to see you in such a state.

Go to one of the meetings, Stacy. Don't lose your nerve! Go soon!

It's absolutely heart-wrenching to be going through it.

Monday's just a few days away, and my calendar looks open...so far. I swear I just wanna go, stand up, and shout out loud "I"m a girl!"

My thoughts are with you, Stacy.

I've been trying to write a romantic transgender story lately - Lit is sadly lacking in realistic portrayals of transgendered individuals - and have been doing a lot of research about the transitioning process. It IS heart-wrenching. I know it will take a lot of courage to become the woman you are inside. There are a lot of inspiring vlogs you could find on YouTube if you search for Male to Female Transition. One gurl that I quite like has her channel here http://www.youtube.com/user/Jesslyngirl87

Good luck, Stacy. Keep me posted. PM me if you want.

It's a big step just to make the decision to go Stacy, so you are on your way. Keep your chin up, be strong and be proud.

The best thing that can happen is to find support and find friends who are understanding. I wish you the best of luck and please report back once you've gone.

I don't know how it is where you are Stacy, but here in the Bay Area people are really accepting of people of all orientations, sexuality, etc. No one's gonna judge you or anything at those meetings especially on a college campus (unless maybe you're like in the middle of the bible belt in a super religious college) and it might end up being one of the best decisions of your life! Good luck though. :D

I mean worst case if you're nervous about opening up completely the first time, just say that you believe in GLBT rights and want to show your support. You're not really lying but you're not opening up all the way. Kind of a nice middle ground I guess.

I really like this suggestion! Thank you!

I like that idea, too. Baby steps, Stacy. Baby steps. The most important thing is to go, even if all you do is sit in the back and listen.

You have a bunch of us cheering for you.

I've been following this thread, reading about your courage to go to meetings, and I think that's awesome. I almost had the guts to post something on FB on National Coming Out Day on Monday(?) about me being Bi, but I backed out at the last minute. I started looking for meetings around here, but sine I'm not a college student anymore I don't know where to start. I looked on my alma mater's site and the LGBT group says nothing about it being open to community members. I guess I have to keep looking. :)

Many college groups would gladly have alumni as part of their community, so don't discount going back to your alma mater. I would find out who the current leader of the group is and contact them to see what the policy is. It doesn't hurt to try.

Is tonight the night, Stacy?

Buck up your courage and go. Tell us how things went.

Much love to you.

this is what i think about the comeing out thing what i do sexually is my bussnes if someone finds out i am bi then zippadeedoda! What ever problem they have with it is just that theyer problem not mine i love being bi. I dont get why people have a hard time with what a person likes sexually. Simply put it is no differant than food. Some people like olives others dont dose it mean your moreally corupt if you are a guy that likes olives just because someone said a guy is not to like olives. I think you will be good. Ever indivedual has tastes and prefrances dont force yours on me.I love all people no matter the gender. So good luck in what it is you decide to do come out or stay in i support you all.
