America’s One-War Military Is No Match for Reality

Four consecutive bipartisan defense strategy commissions have looked “under the hood” of America’s armed forces and all issued dire warnings.
The Department of Defense is out-matched for the united threats it faces. This is reinforced by the report from the National Defense Strategy Commission, which opens with a sobering declaration: “The Commission finds that the U.S. military lacks both the capabilities and the capacity required to be confident it can deter and prevail in combat.”

The report paints a stark picture of the global security environment, noting the threats the United States faces are “…the most serious and challenging the nation has encountered since 1945 and include the potential for near-term major war.”

While the lights are all flashing red for America’s armed forces, the commission also finds that China is “outpacing” the United States, and has “largely negated” the US military advantage in the Western Pacific through continued military investment, while also noting that Russia is devoting a whopping 29 percent of its federal budget to its military as it wages its brutal invasion of Ukraine.

Joe Biden has failed the American people. Where does the near trillion a year we give to the DOD go? It's obvious it isn't building the force needed to secure the national defense.

This is like the 20th thread on the same topic you've created.

We get it already....

Please make another thread on the topic so you can be heard saying the exact same thing again
Nothing is more ubiquitous around here than you climbing into your Keystone cop car and come squealing into a thread on two wheels to assume the role of Content Constable or Subject Sheriff.

So please, tell us all about your feelings about the current military state.

You haven't created a thread on it on the last hour.

I can see you have little curiosity about having the smallest Army since 1940, a dysfunctional Navy, an Air Force who's combat aircraft are less than 70% mission capable, a defanged USMC, and the biggest, near one trillion Dollar, Defense budget. All the while our President is pretending that we could face the Russians in Europe with a credible force.

Read the first paragraph. I'm in good company. Democrats have destroyed our military.

No dude.

Don’t just read the first paragraph. When you read a news article look into the source.

You’ve been spreading anti-American propaganda. The company you keep is trying to undermine the USA.

Your entire purpose is to place blame on Democrats and their supporters and you'll find any topic at all to do so without any additional interest.

Quit pretending that you have any other concern.

You really don’t get that we live in a very different world from 1940.

When are you going to understand that AI and robotics are changing everything you understand about warfare? It’s no longer some obscure popular science article, we don’t need as many big manly soldiers anymore. We don’t need full scale aircraft carriers to launch manned aircraft. Geeks and nerds are modern military assets.

Fuck your anti-US feelings.

The sources are in the first paragraph, with links, ya big dummy.

How many of those hundreds of thousands of dead and wounded on the battlefields of Ukraine killed trying to take and hold terrain are geeks and nerds?

That’s the perfect example of why the modern military is investing in modern weapons technology.

How stupid and anti-American are you?

How long does it take to train a new robot? How many hours a day can they be awake? How much do they need to eat?

See a trend here? It’s new stuff. Bury your head in the past and kiss Putin’s ass all you want. Are you cheering for a reunited USSR ?

DEI Is Sinking the U.S. Navy

Fewer Ships, Recruiting Shortfalls: DEI Has Left Our Navy Less Prepared: In the past several weeks, the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy have announced that a shortage of manpower will force them to sideline ships. Given the growing threats globally, from China to the Mideast, the timing couldn’t be worse.

The U.S. Navy’s DEI Challenge

Direct evidence linking DEI to declining recruitment is hard to come by, though whistleblower complaints and polling make a connection hard to dismiss. DEI was quietly introduced government-wide by executive order in 2011, but only after the military explicitly embraced DEI in the wake of the BLM riots and presidential elections of 2020 did recruitment collapse—at least for the services that most visibly embraced it. The Marine Corps, which did not aggressively push DEI, has not suffered the same steep drop in recruitment as the other services.

The results? After persistent recruiting challenges since 2020, the Coast Guard—which is facing a 10% shortage in crews—last year took the remarkable step of sidelining 10 cutters and shuttering 29 boat stations. The Navy, meanwhile, missed its recruiting goals last year by 7,000 and has shrunk by 21,000 sailors since 2021. Then there’s the Army, which reduced its goals rather than acknowledge even larger recruitment gaps.

At least the Navy has (so far) avoided mothballing warships. However, the Navy’s Military Sealift Command recently announced plans to sideline 17 logistic ships critical to the naval mission due to a lack of qualified merchant mariners.

Do those two idiots pictured above look like they could repel boarders or hump a wounded sailor up a ladder to abandon ship?
