An admittedly petty milestone

I do. She was clearly given permission to coordinate collection of opinions on an issue here and did so for about two years with just about everyone who posted agreeing with the change she was advocating (and which I've advocated ever since here without result). And then she was thrown under the bus--and not even by a post to the board/thread she was running, by permission, for nearly two years--but by a preemptive false, slap-down denial elsewhere on the discussion board. This issue was very much integrated into her lifestyle/world view, so it's understandable that it was devastating to her. It's OK/it's their site. Nothing a bit noble or professional (or decent) about it, however.

I think one of the biggest losses for not just the AH, but even bigger for the BDSM forums was Stella Omega.

We didn't always agree, but I had mad respect for her, she shot straight and she knew her shit. I think she bailed here first, but remained in the BDSM threads, then something happened and she left completely.

She had great insights into writing and life in general, had some cool stories from her youth as well.

Yeah, I miss Stella. Last I heard (couple of years ago now) she was doing well, but just drifted away from Lit to other sites.

Yes, she did her really shitty, and I never understood why. What she was campaigning for had a lot of support and it would have bettered the site experience for readers and authors which would have benefitted the site itself

This is where we get the "Lit was never meant to be a business" line.

To which anyone without their lips planted to site ass knows that once something is monetized, it is now a business.

I only got here mid-2015, so I think I missed the vast majority of the trauma that more seasoned authors had to endure. But, having run into old posts and 'I've got the best stats and numbers' claims, I began ignoring They-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named immediately. It reeked of a certain saffron-hued public figure's claims of being the 'best everything, you name it, I'm best at it' tactic.

End of the day, it just amounts to 'repeat the lie enough times, and enough people will believe it.'

And I have no damn time for that nonsense. I enjoy Lit, I enjoy writing for my readers (even though I'm really just writing for myself), and I enjoy the community.

Scabies hasn't affected my time here at all, aside from just warning me off from them. I've got my people I hang with, and I'm happy. I guess I'm just sorry there are some apparently fantastic people I'll never meet because Scabies drove them away.

Ah well, case of rum, case of rum...
