That sounds like so much fun. I miss having a group of friends I could play music withI play bass and guitar. We have regular “jams” at our house where friends come over and we sing songs all night. All ages parties. We put chords and lyrics on the computer/TV so everyone can follow along. We have an upright piano, acoustic guitar and bass, mandolin and bunch of assorted drums. It’s a monthly meeting that I look forward to all month.
It’s great. We are having a party tomorrow, Saturday, at friends for her birthday. They have piano and we will jam. That sounds like so much fun. I miss having a group of friends I could play music with
Any particular genres that you gravitate towards? It’s great. We are having a party tomorrow, Saturday, at friends for her birthday. They have piano and we will jam.
I love that. Do you sing professionally then?I sing in 3 choirs, 2 bands, and assist children’s choir. I was in 2 other bands and other choirs before I moved across the country.![]()
Pop and rock at the jams. Try to find songs that people know, so all can sing along.Any particular genres that you gravitate towards?
Boy, that’s a complicated question. There are so few opportunities and not enough money in the arts, so no it’s not my job, I don’t make a living at it. I have been paid for performances, I’m recognized in public as a performer, I invest at least 8 hours a week in rehearsals or music learning, I am able to do things musically that other “professionals” can do, so in many ways, yes I am.I love that. Guitar and bass, very poorly. I’ve been in a few terrible (but fun) bands.Looking to connect with people who enjoy making music in one form or another. I sing and play keyboard (among other things) in addition to writing music. How about you all?
So much time to devote to music without getting paid substantially. How do you manage that with a day job?Boy, that’s a complicated question.
