Yes, he and I have had a few discussions of radios.

He's one of the few people here who understands electron tubes (valves in the UK). He knows his KT88 from his KT66, that's for sure.

Yep, I was hoping HP was into DMR and we could chat without a huge investment in HF equipment but I think HP said he's been silent for a while.
I mess with my counties HF gear but haven't heard England, but I did get a QSO with a fellow from Germany when the bands blew open last week.
