Easter Celebrations start with Good Friday: Jesus' death on the cross 'paid' what was owing for the sins of the world. There's tragedy in his death and its circumstances, but there's celebration in the outcome!! Easter Sunday is 'the third day,' when Jesus was resurrected: he rose from the dead. That's a cause for celebration because if Jesus the man could live again after death, it shows that it's possible for the rest of us. And that offers bodily hope . . . beyond the grave (or crem, even).Good morning,
You’re a bit early – today is Good Friday. The Easter celebrations don’t start until Sunday.
Or is it because you Brits are in a different time zone? Or has the Church of England brought the Resurrection forward to today to avoid working at the weekend? I suppose even a vicar wants to have a lie-in on Sundays.
Morning. Can we crack open the chocolate eggs today or do we have to wait until Sunday?
Nonsense. Good Friday isn’t anything special. Any fool can get themselves crucified and die from it. What’s so great about that?Easter Celebrations start with Good Friday: Jesus' death on the cross 'paid' what was owing for the sins of the world. So, no, the resurrection hasn't 'been brought forward.' Everything, re sadness, and celebration, remains as before.
Happy Easter!!

No, the extraordinary begins on Sunday: the resurrection. That’s why Easter Sunday is the highest feast and the first day of the church year. The sins part is just a nice bonus.
While I do take your point in a historical context, loads of people get the day off work for Good Friday now, so it has become a de facto day of celebration across the land. And certainly on this couchThank you xWelcome to the group, stand by for questions about bin day and biscuits.
