I'm curious about the use of a cock ring. If it restricts blood flow to keep the penis harder for longer, is it dangerous to wear it for more than a few minutes at a time? If it can only be worn for short periods of time, then what exactly is the point?

Yes they are safe if worn for more than a few minutes. I've experimented a few times and the most I've had one on was for an hour. No damage. They say any erection lasting 4 hours is dangerous, so I'd guess the same would apply here.

Thank you both. I guess I should have done a search before posting.

The reason I asked was because I recently had a pretty long and intense sex session and experienced a bit of soreness on the shaft of my penis afterward. I had used a rubber-like cock ring that holds a small vibrating bullet. I probably only wore it for about 10-15 minutes. Could be the soreness was just from the session being so long...about 2 hours.

I just don't want to take any chances with a device that restricts blood circulation.

I too experience some soreness if I have a prolonged sexual encounter, but without intercourse. That might be it.

Soreness is normal I think. I've had it too. I mean, you're wearing a rubber band to purposely cut off correct circulation, the body ain't gonna be 100% happy with that. If it is just in the vacinity of the actual ring and goes away afeter a few minutes, then I think you're fine. If you experience soreness that last a while or doesn't dissipate right away, I would check with a doctor. What you're describing though sounds pretty normal to me.
