'Gropin' Joe Biden' was a terrible presidential candidate when he first ran in 1988 and again in 2008. Both of his first two presidential bids barely made it out of the starting gate before they were over. He's clearly hoping that the third time is the charm!

The ex-veep opened his campaign for the Democratic Party nomination the other day in Philadelphia - “the city of brotherly love” - revealling his scheme to “unify America” with an all-out assault on the leader of the other half of America. It’s an unusual strategy, “bringing America together” by driving it apart - all the while bewailing the demonization of opponents by demonizing your opponent.

Joe is running as the man with the deepest-blue collar of anybody in the race, and the only man who can defeat the blue-collar billionaire, but he nevertheless represents the very establishment of elites that Trump voters defeated in 2016. Joe has opened up a huge lead in the polling among Democrats, ranging at 39 percent by RealClearPolitics, which swamps the 16 percent of Bernie Sanders, his nearest rival.

Good ol’ Joe has thus far kept the more-or-less polite Democrats reassured with his bland pleasantries, but eventually he’ll have to say real things about real issues: health care, wages, the changing weather, and above all the immigration chaos on the border that NOBODY any longer denies. “If you want to know what the first and most important plan in my climate proposal is,” he said the other day, “Beat Trump, Beat Trump.” Cute, but sooner or later, he’s going to have to get specific.

Joe is engaging on a meaningless crusade to unify the nation by paying tribute to peace and decorum, and then in the very next breath he lambasts Donald Trump, whom he says: “embraces dictators like Putin and Kim Jong-un.” Joe certainly can’t attack the president by denigrating the Trump economy with his silly and ridiculous remarks like: “President Trump inherited an economy from the Obama-Biden administration that was given to him, just like he inherited everything else in his life.” Nobody believes that nonsense, not even the liberals here on this forum!

Good ol’ Joe is expected to bring home the midwestern white, male, blue-collar voters who fled to the Republicans four years ago. But white, male, blue-collared voters may not be as dumb now as good ol’ Joe appears to think they are. If he somehow manages to survive his own party's upcoming ugly nomination fight (which is doubtful), Trump is going to DESTROY him in November of 2020!

On Obamacare, the analogy was more like your date wants a five-course Michelin star dinner for herself and a hot dog for you. What's the point in trying to reason with that?

Not only did every repub senator vote against the ACA ( 39 no/ 1 no vote ) 39 house dems also voted against it. This bill was shoved down the repubs throat. The president who wanted to be known as the uniter began his treck of division.

Later, because Kennedy dies the senate did not have the votes in the senate so Pelosi uses the budget reconciliation process which only needed 51 senators to pass. That vote for ACA passed the house 219 dems for/ 212 with 34 dems voting against; senate only needed 51 votes and the rest is history. Obama goes on to lose the house and the senate. Some consider Pelosi a brilliant tactician but many of us repubs loathed her as a divider and the most partisan politician ever, even outdoing lying Harry Reid. Today she's lost her party. Exactly right. Barack Obama held the Republican Party in contempt. He held both John McCain & Mitt Romney in contempt. But the media told Obama that he was popular & great, and he believed them. You've illustrated it in a way that would come across as a vicious caricature if I had done it, only now it's you saying it, so presumably you really believe it. There was NO point in trying to compromise with people who believe putting health before profit is somehow analogous to totalitarianism. But the fact remains, Obama tried.

And you're probably right - he knew he could pass it with no Republican votes, which is what had to be done in the end because they wouldn't give an inch on anything. That's not Obama's fault, or any other progressive's fault.
