The only movie I've seen that actually follows the book! (25th anneversary edition now available in paperback.)

Beauty and the Beast

Quite possibly the BEST Disnaey animation. altough I haven't seen Fantasia 2000 yet.

The Big Bus (Doubt if anyone's even heard of that one.)
Of course I've heard of it. I love cheap sexist movies. Especially those that are intentionally so bad they're parodies of themselves.

Speaking of obscure cheap sexist comedies -- Transylvania 65000 was pretty good.

ermmmmmmmmm

Bladerunner
Casablanca
Cyrano de Bergerac (French)
Apocolypse Now
Platoon
Horseman on the Roof (French)
Maltese Falcon

My favorites would have to be...The Cure, Bulletproof, and my favorite new one right now is American Beauty.

Brazil
Harold & Maude
Once Were Warriors
Heavenly Creatures
Harvey
Blazing Saddles
An American Werewolf in London
Evil Dead series
Midnight Express
The Killing Fields

Saw a great French movie called "The Dreamlife of Angels" last night. Dunno yet if it's a Top 10'er yet - have to wait a while and still see if it sticks to me. Not an upper, but not a total downer either - see it if you get the chance.

Ok, I guess I will list mine.....
These are also in no particular order...

Independence Day
Caligula the uncut XXX version
The Gate pt II
Army of Darkness
Happy Gilmore
Decline of the Western Civilization pt II (the Metal Years)
From Dusk til Dawn
Show Girls
The people vs Larry Flint
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

There is my list of 10

Kip Carson

Dixon, that exchange with fake name was brilliantly contrived. I have never read anything in print before which has made me laugh more.

There was a line in a movie though which had me chuckling literally for weeks. Did any of you see 'The big Labowski'. Remember how much he loved his White Russians. Then when Jeff Bridges was asked if he wants another White Russian, his reply was...."does the pope shit in the woods"

Some of my faves, and I'm sure I'll remember others as well...

-LA Story (I'm a romantic, what can I say)
-Basic Instinct (Make that a horny romantic)
-The Lawn Dogs
-Death and the Maiden
-The Usual Suspects
-Fright Night (Movie...cheesy, Chris Sarandon...HOT!)
-The Reflecting Skin

I think we did this not all that long ago, but here goes:

American Beauty (I feel like I am the female version of Lester Burnham right now... I just don't want to end up w/ a bullet in my brain!)
The Graduate
Goodfellas
A Walk On The Moon (another one that mirrors my life)
Any Coen Brothers film (Includes The Big Lebowski... my fave line from the film is Sam Elliot's "Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you".)

Who else thinks Dixon could take over Gene Siskel's chair? And I thought I was a movie buff!

EOD

My turn.

Star Wars all of them!!!
Sleepless in Seattle
The Stand (made for tv movie from Stephen Kings book. AWESOME!!!!)
Armageddon for when I need a good cleansing cry
Mrs Doubtfire

What Dreams May Come (Finally saw it!!!)
The Scent of a Woman
and of course...two of my favorite actors in the same movie...
The Conspiracy Theory Mel and Julia...

E_O_D...SHHHHHHHHH!!!!! You're not supposed to mention when threads are repeated...it upsets people....

Just ignore that little statement above, it doesn't mean anything...

Ok, here's my sensitive side...

Audrey Hepburn.."Roman Holiday", "My Fair Lady", "Sabrina"...That's good stuff!!

Just a question, but...did anyone here cry during "Armageddon"? (Maybe the part where Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck are going down to set off the nuclear bomb and then they get all mushy and stuff..??)..Like I said, it's just a question...don't read too much into that...

LMAO...I must've missed that on your list the first time, beebeeblue... I just noticed what you said about "Armageddon" after I submitted. Damn, I feel like an ass now... So I guess that's at least one, huh?

Well Lasher, hon, I made the mistake of renting that movie about 3 weeks after my daughter was born. I cried damn near the whole movie. I bought it several weeks later, and when I think Im having a bad day, I just throw it in the VCR and let the tears flow.

I did forget to mention on other:
Good Will Hunting

The Killing Fields
Apocalypse Now
Say Anything
The Unbarable Lightness of Being

I will just stick to one genre.

It should never be called "Science Fiction".........rather "Science Reality".

The greatest "Science Reality" movies of all time (I'm sure I,ve left a few out).

cool.gif

THE MATRIX (Brilliant Concept – Old but brilliant. Looking forward to the 2 sequels)
STAR WARS
HIGHLANDER (There definitely was only one……. 2 & 3 should be dragged into the street and beaten severely for ever having the audacity to infect our screens).
ALIENS
FORBIDDEN PLANET (In its time)
DUNE
THE ABYSS
EVENT HORIZON
DARK CITY

" The origin of all knowledge is based on our perceptions" - Leonardo Da Vinci

Use the above and you will never lose an argument.......You won't win but at least you won't lose.

I think that Socrates first recorded as to saying that, but hey Leo can say it too. Oh, don't forget "Knowledge is Power".

Some actually likes the movie version of "Dune"?? I thinks I almost shit my pants when I saw that.

For Lasher99

With regards to Dune (The Movie) I meant no disrespect to Frank Herbert. I have not read the book (s). I’m sure the gleam of the movie will dull when I finally find the time to.

I’m sorry that you and I disagree over the origin of the above quotation. I would however like to point out that for some reason Socrates does not seem to be mentioned in the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations with regards to the quote. I think that you should write to them and point out their erroneous entry. I’m sure they would be most grateful.

In closing ……

"Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'sir' without adding, 'you're
making a scene.'" - Homer……………………..J. Simpson.

Hal, go read Dune! Now!

I haven't seen the movie or else it didn't make enough of an impression to stick. Don't know how you could do the book justice on screen.
