#Art or Porn

porn ...and not very well done

Feels like a rather bold statement to make without any sense of why. Without being aware of the artist (Roman Rembovsky, in this case) and their body of work, it can be difficult judging the skill behind an individual work. How many times have you heard someone mock Picasso's cubism without knowing the skill behind the hand of the master?

The same could be said for works by highly revered outsider artists like Henry Darger and many more.

Art works on many more levels than porn by its design. Porn seeks to appeal solely to your purient interests. The lines can get gray quickly. Can porn be artistic? Certainly. Can widely respected art illicit a sexual response? Again, most certainly. An easy example would be Robert Mapplethorpe who purposely sought to blur that line.

Technique, craftsmanship, composition and more all enter into the equation in ways most laymen seldom appreciate.

Is this particular work art? I would say yes. Is art in the eye of the beholder? Most certainly.

You said yourself that 'art' is in the eye of the beholder but chastise my comment for not containing enough info as to my decision...?
It doesn't matter what an artists talents are or how great they may be in your opinion--, what matter at that point in time was how do I feel about the work.
That was the opinion I bothered to post.
