The reason the process is seemingly convoluted, is because any fuck up in the awarding of contracts, the permitting, and the environmental impact studies stage of the process would result in FAAAAAAAR bigger problems down the line in the form of lawsuits and environmental damage, etc.

And, ironically, it would be THE PRIVATE SECTOR BUSINESSES AND THE PUBLIC who would be bringing the lawsuits and bitching about any UNFAIR or UNSAFE screw up during the awarding of contracts, the permitting, and the environmental impact study stage of the project. (Some private businesses and wealthy members of the public ACTUALLY WANT things to be that hard, so the common people will throw their hands up and say “fuck the government, let’s trust private businesses and the wealthy to do massive projects with no oversight”, or so massive projects that benefit the common people won’t get done at all.)





The modern government way of doing things is far from perfect, but we have seen what happens when the common people put ALL their trust in private businesses and the wealthy: The bill for the cleanup of the mess created because they didn’t measure at all before cutting is yuuuuuge, and it’s too late to get the money back once it’s out the door..

He said that basically, under Biden, you could walk across the border, claim asylum [most of whom would not really qualify], and then you'd get released with a court date that was averaging at six years later. Then you can subsequently apply for a work document; then you can get a Social Security number, "no ID" required...
