At Liberty (Closed)

They had inserted close to the location.

The team moved on foot towards the target. The UAV indicated 5 enemy personnel on the outside of the building and 3 teams of 2 mobile on foot walking the perimeter.

The DDM, or Designated Defensive Marksman…the sniper, eliminated the foot mobiles.
Landon worked his way up. There was a solitary guard at the door the team had selected to breach and gain entry.

Landon could see the guy through his night vision optics and the guy was really sleepy.

That fatigue cost him his life.

Landon was on him in 3 steps, turning the guy around so that Landon had his back. There is a point at the base of the skull, to the left of the spinal column, what ancient Chinese marital artists call the “Wind Gate” that Landon had targeted on the enemy. He jammed his Tanto Cold Steel combat blade in the “Wind Gate” and turned Mr. Taliban into an instant rag doll.

Landon gave the signal and the rest of the team came up and stacked on the doorway.

The breacher planted the charges, and everyone ducked their heads.

The explosives detonated and the team poured through the doorway.

Landon was 4th in the stack and went to the right.

An enemy came around a corner and Landon snapped the M-4 up and put a round between the enemy’s eyes. As he went past the body, Landon fired 2 more “security” rounds into his chest to insure they would not see that guy again.

The team moved forward prosecuting targets that appeared.

They made it to the last room and the door was slung.

They poured in, with screams of “PUT THE FUCKING GUN DOWN!!”

The last remaining hostage taker stood behind the hostage, jamming a pistol into the back of her head. Landon’s colleague, a 37 year old female agent, who was actually only a computer specialist but she was still a prime target for kidnapping, looked very beat up. She also looked resigned to her fate to be executed in a stinking Paki warehouse.

Landon transitioned to his Glock 22 pistol and started walking slowly towards the hostage and hostage taker. Landon had brought the pistol up into firing position and had a good sight picture of the hostage takers head.

“Just put the gun down…come on man, go easy.”

The Taliban looked up and got out, “ALLAH U AK….” He did not get to finish.

Landon sent a 40 calibre round sizzling into his forehead. The projectile punched through the hardest part of his skull, deformed and began spinning straight up. The projectile then exploded from the top of the man’s skull, taking with it most of the brain matter the skull had been housing.

Landon checked on the hostage, who was now weeping quietly.

Landon dropped down beside her and hugged her tight.

“It’s okay now. You are alright. I gotcha…you are alright.”

The team medic came running up and soon had the hostage packaged and ready for transport. They were loading her in the helicopter when another Taliban came running into the room where the hostage had been.

He tossed a grenade at the team.

The enemy was cut down by the team, but Landon scooped up the dead body of the hostage taker and dove on the grenade.

In the instant he was falling on the grenade, clutching the body of the hostage taker to absorb as much of the blast as possible and save the team, Landon thought of Eden. He wondered about his child, what they would look like. He hoped that both the child and his mother, Eden, led a long, prosperous life because this was Landon’s death song.

The grenade detonated and just as he thought the dead body took most of the force…but not all.

The explosion ripped his helmet from his head and threw him at high velocity into the concrete wall.

Landon saw Eden, pushing a child in a swing on a playground…then she was waving at a child going into school.

A tear rolled out of his eye, and then Blackness enveloped him.

======================
The word of the casualties from the rescue mission reached headquarters.

The team lead was critically wounded, with not a lot of hope of recovery.

The person in charge of notifying family saw that the team lead was not married but had left specific instructions to call 1 person in the event of his death or injury.

The person assigned to call dialed the number.

It rang twice then was answered.

“Yes, ma’am, I am Sargent Wagner, May I speak to…Eden Wolf, please?”

Eden was trying to enjoy the time she had just alone, though she was never the kind of girl that enjoys being alone. But she tried to make the best of it, she had bought some items for the twins like a crib and things needed. It was actually fun preparing for the new arrivals, it was the kind of thing she enjoyed. And never thought she would have, sure she was only twenty but still. She reached out to people trying to make friends, but it never happened.

But as she was making up the crib, since wanted to get the nursery all up and running. And something stopped her, closing her eyes she could feel something was very wrong. She felt sick to her stomach, hoping to god she was wrong. She could not raise twins on her own, rubbing her very swollen stomach and closed her eyes. She said a Indian prayer that her great grandmother taught her. Basically saying for a safe return to show him mercy.

Some would think she was over reacting but she knew better, some thought she just worried for no damn reason. But Eden knew better, life was never fair and frankly life could suck. Taking away his friends and then being tossed in a suicide mission, she was more angry at Landon's boss then at Landon. All in all everything was still around her, only thing to sustain her was the beating of her own heart. She was beyond confused about things.

Taking out her cell phone she looked at it, and just felt so much was wrong. Like a part of her was dying, and the other part could sense him there. Though she had no clue if it was going on, she tried not to stress herself for the health of the twins. And right now she was beyond stressed. Slowly standing up she took her cell phone and went to the living room. Sitting back she decided to watch some T.V something she did not do much of.

But within five minutes of just sitting there on the couch, her phone went off. Looking at the caller I.D she knew it was over seas. Just something she could easily see. Taking a deep breath she did not know what to do, she was so afraid it was bad news. That Landon was dead and there was no hope for her, closing her blue eyes as she sighed sadly it was so sad to see herself so scared and alone. She opened up her phone and spoke.

"Hello? Yes I am Eden Wolf"

Hearing what the voice on the other end said, her face turned white like she had seen a ghost. And that terrified her, slowly shaking her head as she heard the list of problems he was facing. She silently cried as she just wanted to throw in the towel, but she sighed. "What is going to happen then? I mean I want to be by his side. I know he will make it h e is a fighter. I need to be there if he dos let go and die" She said sadly.

Landon was flown back to the Naval Hospital.

He was in a medically induced coma. His brain had a severe concussion and both of his lungs had collapsed. Bits of shrapnel had gone into he arms and left leg.

The agency took steps and arranged to get Eden to the hospital. Most of the doctors believed it was so she would have a chance to say goodbye because they did not expect him to live.

but the medical personnel would fight, and hopefully he would pull through. His primary doctor believed having her there might actually improve Landon's chance of recovery.

But as it stood, they just hoped she could get there before he expired.

Eden knew she had to go but had faith he would make it, she was grateful that they helped her to get to the hospital. It would be heart breaking but she went, and she came to the hospital once she was out. Slowly going inside she asked where he was, and a nurse took him to the ICU where all critical patience were put. It scared her she hated hospitals, but she knew she had to be with him here and now. She had no idea what to expect, but knew it was very bad. Knots could be felt in her gut. She noticed a woman however and she bowed her head.

"I am so sorry Landon is a good man, he is strong. Doctors say there is no hope, but I won't believe that" She said sadly.

Going into his room she was stopped by seeing all the tubes coming out and IV's. And two chest tubes one on each side, covering her mouth as she pulled a chair and took his hand squeezing it. Her heart was breaking as she tried not to cry, but tears could be seen in her eyes. She stroked his cheek and spoke. "Landon it's Eden, I am right beside you" She said and looked at him. "You have to survive this Landon, you promised me you would come back to me. Please baby I can't raise our twins on my own, I need you" Finally her tear fell down her cheek and onto his hand.

"Landon it's Eden, I am right beside you. You have to survive this Landon, you promised me you would come back to me. Please baby I can't raise our twins on my own, I need you"

Landon was sitting on a grassy hill. He saw his long legs stretched out. He was wearing shorts and was barefoot. The sky had puffy white clouds floating over.

Running up the hill were 2 children. They were laughing and giggling as they ran towards him.
Landon smiled.

His arm twitched.

Then he was in the hospital room.
The same 2 children were walking around the hospital bed, they both took his right hand and began saying in their sweet voices, "It's ok daddy. It's ok."
Landon then felt another hand take his hand and squeeze.

Landon choked and shook for an instant. The medical machines issued a beeping sound.

Eden sinced something was much different, she saw his arm twitch and it looked like a good sign, but then she heard the beeping and she got up and yelled 'Get a doctor in here now!" She screamed and went back to his side. And smiled a little bit hoping it was a sign he was still fighting for his life, stroking his cheek she smiled a little bit. And it looked like such a good sign, and began to silently pray by him. Hoping that he would come out of this, Landon was everything and it was easy to see that.

"That's right Landon fight....your son and daughter and girlfriend need you very much. You cannot die on me Landon do you here me?" She said. Unsure what the hell to do, the woman Landon saved left the room to get some coffee. And looking around she did not know what was going to happen to them. Running her fingers against his chest without touching anything that would give a false positive on brain activity. "Come on baby" She said softly, hoping to god he would wake.

Landon could hear her.

In his mind he was screaming at her.
"Why can't I move!!"

It was maddening.

For the rest of the week, the doctors monitored.
Then on the following week, they detected some brain wave activity. He was improving.

The doctors kept coaching Eden to talk to him like he was here. He could hear everything that was going on and that her presence had to be helping.

Eden did not leave his side she just kept talking to him like he was awake, she always believed that even in someones condition like Landon. That they can hear and she was rather happy about it, every day he improved a little at a time. Then with the breathing tube now out of his throat since he was breathing on his own, and were able to remove the chest tubes. Stitching him up and keeping everything else on him. She took his hand and knew he would make it through this so she spoke.

"Don't worry Landon you are in the hospital, you succeed in getting the woman out safely you saved her life. But I did get some news today our children, they are growing very fast. We are having a boy and a girl so best of two worlds. I guess because you could not have children with your ex, I guess you caught up having two children at once" She giggled a little bit, taking his hand and placing it on her swollen stomach. "Feel that baby? They are kicking and they will kick your ass if you don't wake up" She smiled.

"Feel that baby? They are kicking and they will kick your ass if you don't wake up"

Landon was looking down on himself. He was in his bedroom, asleep.
The children came running into the room and they both jumped onto the bed piling onto him.

"Wake up, daddy!! Wake up! Mommy made pancakes!"

Landon's hand began making a fist, then releasing.

Then he saw himself laying on his couch. A cartoon movie was on the TV. Suddenly, he felt 2 little hands, one on each of his arms shaking him, 2 little voices saying, "Daddy, wake up, you are missing the best part."

Landon's head starting shaking side to side. His eyes fluttered, opened for an instant then closed again.

Eden watched what was going on, and could tell he was trying to wake up. She hadn't really sleep in a couple of weeks, sighing softly as she rested her head on the bed. To tired to stay awake any more, sighing happily as she closed her eyes for just a moment but ended up falling asleep, not a deep sleep but sleep none the less. She had lovely dreams and something woke her up, picking her head up she noticed she slept for three hours. Sighing softly as she did not know what to do any more.

He was her son, moon and stars and he was lying in this bed dead to the world. So to speak any way, and she wanted him to wake up. She was so afraid that he would be alive but never wake up again, shaking the thought from her head she could not approve of that. She would not think about anything like that. Sighing a little she was just lost to the world, watching the machines and looking back at him every so often. Feeling the babies start to kick she stood up to stretch her body.

Landon was walking down a hall.

At the end of the hall was a dark room. The deepest black he had ever seen.
He felt compelled to go in the room. He did not know why, but go into the blackness was what he felt like he had to do.

Just as he was going to step into the room, a door opposite the dark room came open with a loud crash.
He turned and looked. Eden was there and she was holding the 2 children. A brilliant light glowed behind them. The little boy said, "Daddy, do not go in there. I want to play with you."
Landon just stared at them.
Then the little girl said, "Please daddy, don't go in there. Come home with us." then she tucked her head against Eden's shoulder.

Landon sat straight up in the hospital bed. His eyes wide. He was gasping air. Then the pain from the broken ribs overwhelmed him and he doubled over and lay on his side and cried out "Oh God!"

Eden had a feeling something was going on and watching him, she tilted her head a little. She felt compelled to stay and not go take a walk, holding onto his hand as she was now alone. The woman who he saved had left and it was just her on watch and of course the doctors and nurses, but she refused to miss him waking up. She rubbed the back of her neck with her free hand, but she noticed something. Looking up at the screen his brain waves were off the charts, and it was then it happened.

Watching him sit up she was rather surprised and startled, but she realize he was going to be in a lot of pain. Getting up she opened up the door. "I need a doctor in here now!" She cried out and went back to his side, placing her hand on his squeezing. "Try to relax Landon your in a hospital, you suffered a lot of injuries they told me that you were as good as dead. But I would never believe it, and I am so thankful" She had tears in her eyes as she eased him back to lay down and sighed.

"I love you" She said tears in her eyes.

"I love you"

The first words he heard.

He gritted his teeth against the pain, then looked at her and managed a smile.

"Sorry I am late, I was held up at the office...it was crazy at work." He said

The doctors and nurses came and went to work on him.
They medicated him and he slept...really slept.

He would wake up periodcally and check to see if Eden was still there. When he saw she was, he would close his eyes again.

When he was awake it was almost like he was drunk. This went on for another week.

Slowly he healed up.

For some reason he was always hungry and eating huge portions of hospital food.
He talked with Eden for hours during the days when he was awake and alert.
He had no memory of what had happened and Eden did not know either, it was classified.

Finally, he was released from the hospital and Eden was going to drive him home.
He thought she looked magnificent in her advanced pregnant state. She was a woman.
As she started the car and was about to drive out, he said, "I love you so much."
Then he added, "Can we please go get a giant cheese pizza, I am starving."
As she started driving into traffic, Landon said, "Oh yeah, don't wreck my car. I could get hurt." Then he leaned over and kissed her gently on the lips.

By the time he got out a few of the stitches could come out, so it was a big improvement, and it always made her feel good to see every hurtle gone by him. She smiled with what he said and kissed him deeply. When he asked if they could get a pizza she nodded. "Of course I did promise you we would get one once you got back" She said and since he did not remember anything, she was just glad he remembered her and that was something. Parking in the parking lot and ended up coming out pretty fast.

She had called on the way so she just had to pay for it, then heading to there place she helped him inside and put the pizza down and looked at him. "I don't know if you heard anything but we are having twins Landon a boy and a girl" Eden said with much pride to her face, running her fingers against his cheek. Just so glad he was back and it was nice, sighing a little everything was as it should be. 'I don't know what happened on your mission I just know that you saved the woman you were over there for, I was told you pretty much flung yourself over a grenade with a dead body."

She said rather proudly

Landon improved everyday.
Soon, he was able to begin his workout, though at a much lower level. He focused on what they called "Functional Fitness".

He also actually enjoyed being around Eden as the pregnancy progressed.

He joined her on trips to the doctor.

One day, while she was at the kitchen sink, he came up behind and ran his hands over her pronounced belly. He moved her hair to over her left shoulder and kissed her neck.

"I just wanted to tell you that I think your are beautiful and I love you..."

For the first time in a long time, his dick swelled up, and he ground it into the crack of her ass.

Eden was happy that the twins were nice and healthy, all good parents wanted that for their children. And it was nice to see it, she was at the sink thinking of a million things. But she was snapped out of her day dream when she felt arms around her. Made her feel good and happy that he was there, and would be there. She just prayed to god that he would not be asked to do recon any more. Smiling as she felt his hand on her very swollen stomach, just about ready to give birth to the twins.

Hearing what he said she smiled happily. "I am glad you are so happy Landon, I just hope they wont have you do a mission like the one you were into this last time. But then she moaned softly feeling the sensation he was giving her. It was rather nice and was making her wet "Mmm I have missed us making love. To feel you inside me, then exploding into me, nothing like it in the world. But so glad you are back if not for me but the sake of the children" She said her heart beating so fast.
