ATTENTION: Important issue for all Anthologiers

If we do, then the main home page should probably be one of those portal pages: If you are a minor ...

Oh right. Didn't think of that.

Do we need one of those if we have quotes from the stories?

SJ

Since we're advertising an adult eoritca anthology, will we need one of those portal pages anyway? I didn't think of that.....we will do if we have very explicit quotes, but we could pick not so raunchy ones to get round that.

I don't have a clue there to be honest.

Earl, I'm loving it! the neon blue just makes it look sharper, not so dated. Love the new look! Love it, love it, love it.

What do others think?

I quite liked it.

We need something in a picture to fill in that big blank spot though.

Better safe than sorry, I suppose ... although I *did* categorize the CafePress site as such, and you can link directly to it. I don't know what happens if you get to it "the hard way" (i.e., through CafePress' indices).

Imp, I think you are right, if we can give a little blurb on the portal page so people know exactly what they are clicking through to get, it shouldn't be a problem.

Earl, how easy would a portal page be to do? using the same colours would be cool, with the little "coming together" pic and a bit of blurb....

I am willing to purchase the domain -- and just be "owed" from the proceeds when CafePress releases them.

Let me know if y'all want to proceed that way.

EDIT: I would vote for www.eroticanthology.com because (a) it matches the CafePress store name; (b) it's readily understandable to the casual surfer; and (c) there may come a time when we do a theme collection with a different name. However, if the site is going to be strictly about the Coming Together series, then that's a different story.

This all sounds bloody great to me. I'll read through the thread more thoroughly later, and comment on it further (I have GOTTA watch Dr Who now - I missed it last night, cos my daughter was in a concert). Anyway, yep, all cool. I'll do a banner, btw, and anything else I can do to get this off the ground (any other graphics and anything else you might want, with regard to the web design). :)

Holy shit. I guess you guys did not have a sunny Sunday then?

Earl,

I really like your last one, number 4 I think. Like EL said, the blue looks great on the black background. I really like that.

Your layout of the different elements was clear and looks fine to me. I agree with Imp on the toolbar text. Change Home page to Home?

:D

This is really getting quite serious, isn't it?

:nana:

Okay, folks. We now own the domain: www.EroticAnthology.com ... hosted by DomainAvenue.com (It'll take a day or so for the registration to be ... well ... registered.)

I'm going to be setting up masked e-mail addresses for each person in volume 1 (for starters), so they can be included with the Biographies (and on the web site). Please PM me with the address to which you want your EroticAnthology e-mail to be forwarded.

The sender will not see your actual e-mail address UNLESS you reply. :D

When I receive notification from DomainAvenue that everything is ready, I'll share the FTP sign on information with EL so that her hubby can upload the pages.

Woo hoo :nana: way to go imp! Funky chicken:) I'll let hubster know whats what :)

Jeez! You turn your back for a day and the world reshapes itself! Looking good, guys. I'm with the majority here, no problems with any of the solid suggestions that have been made. I have reservations about blue on black, but as long as it's a light shade like the example page I think it will be fine. The default 'blue' is very hard to read on a black background to my ageing eyes - not enough contrast. My reservations, incidentally, are from seeing student attempts at web pages - some of them shouldn't have been allowed within a mile of a PC.

Just sending this off. Any objections before it goes?

The Earl

cool.

I'm glad you wrote it instead of me:)

How many anth threads are there?

TheEarl said:
You edited just as I quoted! I think a banner on Lit might cost us, but even if it does, I think it might be worth it.

Neonurotic: The cover graphics belong to Tatelou and most of the other promotional ones belong to Rhinoguy. I'm sure they'd love for you to use them, but they'd be the people to ask.

The Earl

perhaps they would sell it in the lit store?

I would suggest that anybody involved in the anthology who has a 'literotica' email (not necesarily from lit, but an email just for your literotica persona) ad add some info and a link to their signature line and be sure to attach the sig to all of their outgoing mail. That way, when you (we) respond to feedback or anything, we let our fans know about the book.

(yes, they can read all the stories for free on lit, but it's nice to have a bound volume and some might like to help with the cause. Plus- there is no garantee that the stories will remain up forever, a book is something you can keep. Add additional arguments why an actual book is different from reading online:))

Sweet,

I like the suggestion of adding Coming Together to my signature.
Will try to do so.

:D

Well, if we set aside a little of the profits to have one banner on Lit or somewhere and see if we can persuade other people we know with sites to help us promote it. Can you build and maintain a website Q_C? That would be helpful.

The Earl

Doubtful, Earl, considering the expenses involved (as in there are some). Arguably, I could, but in actuality, I probably can't, not given my lack in abilities and experience in the area of being a webmaster. Perhaps I could manage one of those "freebie" sites, but they don't garner enough hits to really help out any, especially an unestablished one.

If I'd gotten off my ass and started that site with the serial stories on it as I'd intended, then I might have been able to help out with a link.... :(

Ok folks here's the mock up Mitnik (My husband) has worked on, it's got as much info as he's got,and he has changed one obvious thing, the navigation is down the side and not across the top. If you don't like it though, it can be changed :)

So here it is, let us have it! then he can work on the finished product and once i get quotes in, we'll be nigh on done :)

EroticAthology Mock- Up

EL: It's good, but....

I think the links look better across the top as in the prototype. I don't like them down the side. It wouldn't hurt to have the writing on the quote of the day a bit bigger as well. I think the strips which separate each section might look a bit spiffier if they were slightly thicker w/more blue than white.

If it's not too much work, I think it would be better to try and create our own Shop page that followed the format of the site proper, where we could describe each item and provide a link to the buying bit of that item on CafePress.

The font across the top doesn't hit me right. Is it Arial? I think it would look a touch better to copy the writing from the book cover. The font colour all over doesn't strike me quite right either; I think we'd be better served by having a silver/purply-silver, like the book cover, instead of white text as IMHO white on black doesn't look right. Blue links are also a tad hard to read on a black background (author's page). I would also recommend not using Times New Roman for the main body text; it looks kinda everyday. IMHO sans serif fonts work better for websites, something like Lucida Sans or Eras ITC.

Apart from that it looks like the dogs bollocks. I know that was quite a long and nit-picky 'apart from that' which invites the answer of "Well, you do it then!" but I'm a perfectionist and I love to see a job fully done with every single detail perfect. Or 'pedantic git' for short.

Also, I think that the scrollbar on the LHS should scroll the whole screen and not just the frame. I don't like frames that much as I don't think they look very good and if they're to be used it is MHO that they should be disguised.

Picky, picky, picky. Sorry.

I disagree, here. No need to reinvent the wheel -- and have to update the site every time a product is added or changed.

The "Online Shop" link DOES need to open in a new window, though.

However, throughout, the headers read "Coming Together" when the site name is "Erotic Anthology." While right now "Coming Together" is our only product, let's not pigeonhole ourselves.

Will send the proper font to EL this morning, assuming I can find the right file(s).

to be honest, I don't see the point of having an actual shop page, when all it will do is direct to cafe press anyway and are we allowed to do are own shopping page with there images etc anyway?

Imp mentioned font, she'll send the one used for the anthology over for the titles etc. I personally think a good clear, normal text is good as it is easy on the eye. upping size is probably not a problem.

colouring, again, I'm sure that can be sorted out too, this was only the mock -up so changes are expected :) I told him you lot were demanding ;)

Fair enough on the shop, although agree with Imp that it should open in a new window.

The Earl

Erotic Anthology will be put in now as the title....that's my fault, I forgot to tell hubby we'd decided on that instead of "coming together"

the links are where they are because on a top bar they would look crowded because there are 8 of them,so hubby put them at the side becuase it looks better and is easier for naviagtion, as people can clearly see they are links to other pages on the site.

Frames or not? We kept in the frames to echo Earls original idea, the scroll bar cannot do the whole page on the frames look, so would have to be unframed for the scroll bar to scroll the whole thing.

Any comments throw them in, hubby is quite flexible and kbnew he'd have changes to make :)
