(AP) — The board overseeing a southeastern Arizona county whose Republican leaders had hoped to recount all Election Day ballots on Friday delayed certifying the results of last week’s vote after hearing from a trio of conspiracy theorists who alleged that counting machines were not certified.

The three men, or some combination of them, have filed at least four cases raising similar claims before the Arizona Supreme Court since 2021 seeking to have the state’s 2020 election results thrown out. The court has dismissed all of them for lack of evidence, waiting too long after the election was certified or asking for relief that could not be granted, in increasingly harsh language.

But Tom Rice, Brian Steiner and Daniel Wood managed to persuade the two Republicans who control the Cochise County board of supervisors that their claims were valid enough for them to delay the certification until a Nov. 28 deadline.

however:
“The equipment used in Cochise County is properly certified under both federal and state laws and requirements,” state Elections Director Kori Lorick told the board. “The claims that the SLI testing labs were not properly accredited are false.”

Arizona Republicans seem fixated on rally crowd size, as if that constituted some form of righteousness (see also: Vetteman). "How could Hobbs have won? We had MUCH bigger rallies than she did!"

Also, "Hobbs refused to debate teh issues!".....when the Lake camp defined the two most pressing issues as whitewashing the Jan 6th coup attempt and "fraudulent" 2020 election results. Voters have moved past relitigating the Biden victory, but butthurt MAGA couldn't let it go and paid a political price at teh polls.
Republicans don’t seem to realize that many undecided voters go to rallies to help them decide, then decide against those candidates.

Also when interviewed, many attendees at rallies boast about how many rallies they've attended. It must be a full-time job going to each one. What this means is that if the same 20k people go to each rally, your entire base may be only 20k people.

TV appearances reach far more people than personal appearances; the downside is that people watching TV don't buy silly hats.

The election results in Arizona demonstrate one core concept: All the Republicans had to do to win in Arizona was not support or even mention Donald Trump's whining about his loss in 2022. But the power of the personality cult made that impossible to do for some of the high-profile candidates in Arizona.
