yes i'm back....and posting...woo woo....was bored and put this in the catagory of i always wanted to try but was shy....you know thoes water wiggle things.....well they feel intresting

I think most interesting, for me, is the changing the color snap to black and white and then revealing some color - just a hint - back to it. Or adding a new color entirely.
I've found that using channels in photoshop, isolating a color channel is more effective that just changing to greyscale.
dupe the blue channel, ctrl + L for levels, jack the highlights and shadows over to create super contrast ... use magic wand to select the now isolated object. Then load selection or just go back to main image with the selection to copy and then paste in new layer.
And the color replacement tool is pretty amazing. The key, of course, is not to let it look like a 'stock trick' ...
Dupe a layer and change it's overlay is also pretty awesome.
Adding a layer of white on top, drop opacity to 5% and then soft erase to make certain features stand out (see this a lot in model photos).
Lastly, encouragement! I think it's great and fun to watch the exploration process ... much more rewarding than the final product.
