Back to School

I remember hearing about Rutgers doing pretty well this season. I was never into football in high school because our team was crappy for the majority of my time there and because I didn't really understand the game. My freshman year at UMass, though, the team was really good (we tied for the Atlantic 10 championship with Delaware and went to the playoffs, but lost against Colgate in the first round) and I had plenty of guys in the tuba section to explain the game to me (had I known what a first down really meant in high school, I may have enjoyed watching it).
I was always a fan in High School, even though it wasn't necessarily "cool", my school even went to the State Championship. When I was at Rutgers the football program sucked, and there just wasn't that much interest on campus. It's all different now!

I'm thrilled that the school spirit has been increasing every year I've been here at UMass. Our stadium was sold-out for the first time in about 30 years yesterday. It was amazing. The crowd was nuts. Four years ago, it was basically the band cheering with a couple others. It makes me proud. :p

Oooh you're such a flatterer! Although the crowd does seem to have something for tubas. They tend to chant it whenever we walk by. On the other hand, a lot of them try to throw trash in our bells, so I'm not really sure if they love us or hate us.

People can just be turds at times, can't hey?

And why do have a sudden urge to listen some John Phillip Sousa?

I know you would be. ^^ But there are 20 of us, so you'd definitely have to search to find me, and then it'd be hard to get a good look, so nyah! :p

happy monday cg...hope this one was better than last weeks
I went to my first two classes, but I didn't go to my third. I didn't feel so bad about it, though. The day is generally better than last Monday.

The negative part is that because I had a candle sitting on my desk and the RA saw it and wrote me up, both my roomie and I have to go to this judicial conference to discuss it. -.-

Also, since I never started my thesis this semester, I'm in a bad spot. I'm starting to think that it would be better for me to do an intensive Capstone next semester so that I actually finish the requirement instead of doing the thesis. The grad student I did some RA work under has been e-mailing with me and she says that the thesis would look a lot better, which I know, but knowing me, I'm never going to finish it, let alone start it, so I'm thinking a Capstone class would be better for me, especially the way I've been this semester.

I'm at an impass since I want to look as good as possible to grad schools or medical schools since my grades aren't great, but I'm trying to think realistically for once in my life. I also might have more fun in the Capstone because this particular one is a performing arts one, and even though that has nothing to do with my major or the career I want to go into, I think it would be enjoyable. I'm just afraid about putting my foot down and choosing it. Also, that means I would just get regular honors instead of departmental honors, which is okay, but I'd probably have to do a bunch of paperwork to switch back.

Gah.

glad its somewhat better for you...sounds to me like the ra needs to get a life...as for thesis vs capstone you should do whatever makes you happy...grad med schools would look more favorably on a well rounded individual than a half way done paper....big hugs and kisses to you

The RA doesn't necessarily need to get a life...the school policy that say you can't have a candle, lit (understandably) or unlit (why not?), needs to get a policy.

I think she would've, but a friend of mine said that she thinks they have to have an RD with them during the checks so that they don't look over certain things (like alcohol bottles everywhere, stuff like that), so that she wouldn't have been able to ignore it.

Haha. I'm actually going to stick with the honesty policy, mainly because 1. I'm a bad liar, and 2. I'm hoping if I'm honest, they'll just slap my wrist and tell me to bring it home over winter break.

I've been counting the days for a while. I've been wanting this semester to end since about half way through. It's just been attrocious and it's made me wonder what the hell I'm gonna do with the rest of my life. ^^()

It sounds like someone could use a hug!

Haha, thanks you guys. I did get a lot of nice warm hugs yesterday at the band banquet. Sometimes I forget how good it feels to hug people.

people often forget just how powerful a simple hug can be. Nothing sexual or lustful. Just the warm embrace of another person showing they care. It goes back to our most primitive of times. Hugs again! We love ya :rose:
