heh. craftsmanship of that calibre costs money; materials, labor... done by hand, figure about twelve dollars an hour at manufacturer's cost, boring out the bar stock on a lathe, cutting out the rings, splitting the rings, drilling the holes, threading the holes, polishing them on the mill; a job lot of those would take about a week for a small job shop to produce, with probably two of their machinists or toolmakers - so eighty hours of labor at twelve to fourteen an hour, that's $960 at cost for labor; quality round stainless barstock, last I knew, would be another grand or so... Packs of those hex screws aren't too expensive, though, and those wouldn't have to be made in shop...Ebonyfire said:But of course if you have money you can pay an arm and a leg for them at the fetish store.

Assuming all went well, no tools break, and we don't factor in other things like electricity, oil, coolant, other incidentals, we'll call it $1,960 US for something like 100 of those things, at manufacturer cost. Start tacking resellers, distributors, and such on, yeah, an arm and a leg sounds right at retail, if they're handmade.
