Thinking about you and {{{{Gil}}}}

Hope your trip was good. :)

I got back on Friday morning. Tired, hot and jet lagged but managed to get Sir on the machine and fed Him His lunch before I had mine and crashed out for a couple of hours :)

Could have done without the earthquakes while I was away though  Got woken on Thursday morning at 6am (NZ time) by the bed swaying back and forth crossways and things rattling. 5.1 on the Richter Scale! Mum called out "Are you all right?" and I called back "Yeah", strangely I wasn't too worried about it :D We felt 4 or 5 others during that day although not as big. I have felt earthquakes before so it wasn't anything new (NZ is known as "the shaky isles" for a reason).

Sir is now the proud owner of a T shirt which provides the translation of the Haka (Maori war dance/challenge, which the All Blacks rugby team do before each and every game). He also has a toy stuffed kiwi which when his tummy is pressed plays the Haka - He loves it! :D

All Blacks Haka

It was good to see my Mum and brother and his family, I came home with quite a few photos which mum had put together in an album for me (I left most of the photos of the kids behind when I left the ex :( ) Best of all I also have some pics of Dad (made me a bit teary that did).

A short but busy trip and the next one will be to see my kids probably next summer (not keen on NZ in winter brrrr!)

I've been a bit quiet over the past week, mainly because I've not had a lot to say

Sir took a tumble at the speedway last Tuesday night, He's got a sore knee and His left shoulder is very painful still. He had a shit day on dialysis yesterday with cramping and a bit of low blood pressure which I think was because of the pain He was in - it made His blood sugar crash which in turn caused the low blood pressure/dizziness. Usually when He's in pain His blood pressure goes up, go figure  He made it through to the last half hour but by then He was so uncomfortable He wanted to come off. Not a problem, we will get the last 400g off next time.

Speedway was on again last night but we both felt like shit (He in pain, me so tired Sir said I looked like I had panda eyes!). He sent me to lie down and I slept for about 90 minutes, felt a lot better when I got up to cook dinner, and it was then we decided not to go, even though we'd only be spectating. Better to miss one meeting than have to miss several because of aggravating injuries. I rubbed some emu oil in to His shoulder this morning and then put a wheat bag on it, and He said it feels better so I will be doing this again later.

It's going to be stinking hot for the next few days, 36C by Tuesday. Poor people in Melbourne and Alice Springs have 40C and 42C today respectively...I would be hibernating with the aircon on and cold water in the bath!!

We have just narrowly missed out on tropical cyclone Bianca; although we will have a storm. I'll take a storm over the cyclone though! :D

Keeping you both in my prayers. Hope that weather you are describing moderates for you soon.

Welcome back Bandit, I hope you and Gil feel are feeling better.:rose:

Hope you both feel better soon. :rose: Ugh, we have been contemplating moving to Melbourne and those temperatures are one reason I keep thinking it might not be the best choice.

Thanks minxie, kayte, Noor and Catalina :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose:

He is still sore although not as bad, but He's thinking of going to the doctor anyway, maybe tomorrow. The doctor I see does acupuncture which might help.

We have the aircon on already (not even 10am!), for Sir's comfort in the bedroom while He's on the machine. I have the pedestal fan on in the lounge trying to blow some of that cooler air down this end of the unit - it does work, sorta  I might even grab a face washer and soak it in water and put it on the back of my neck! Being from NZ I don't do over 30C heat well......

Glad the fan does help move the air throughout for you. I know I don't do well in 30C heat either. Does anyone!

Take care, both of you.

Hope all goes well at the doctor's. I am born and bred Queenslander and hate anything above 25C, especially when the humidity is part of the parcel. It just makes me plain ill....part of the reason I love it in The Netherlands (I can actually do things and feel alive!!) but F is hellbent on us moving back to Australia. He might be in for a surprise as he has spent very little time there, and always in July/August when it is the coolest....he thinks I am exagerrating when I say how ill I get, and that breathing is even difficult in the most humid months.

LOL bring him for a visit in February, I think he'll change his mind pdq! :D

It's just after 8am, and it's over 24C heading for 36C - and we are near the coast. Out west they're expecting 42C. I am sweating already!

Heat combined with humidity tends to give me a headache, so I stay inside with a fan and aircon on and windows closed and blinds drawn. If we have to go out (and someone has to, we need bread!) it will be in airconditioned car straight to airconditioned shopping centre and home again :D

HUGS back to you KK :rose:

I saw your post in Dear X thread, I'm really sorry....he obviously doesn't deserve you

Thanks for the hugs..They are needed today!

Thanks about my Dear X post..been a disheartening day for sure...thanks for caring :rose:

LOL, I have tried but he alwas has an excuse why he can't go.....and what makes it worse is he hates air conditioning and fans as he says they make his allergies worse!! When he was there the first time, he saw a baby cockroach and thought it was big, and as he doesn't like creepy crawlies, he wasn't overjoyed to find out it was only a baby and adults were much bigger, not to mention they fly. I'm thinking if we move, I might have to document the adventure as a comedy series and sell it to a network.:D

Hope things have started cooling off and having the humidity drop for you. Take care sweetie. We are in the midst of a blizzard here. I'm just staying in until Thursday. :)

LOL I can relate to the cockroaches  I am getting braver at killing them, as long as they stay still while I swat them with a shoe - but as soon as they start to crawl (very quickly!!) I am ready to cut and run :D

We had a huntsman spider in the bedroom sitting on the wall over the doorway once, I ran across the hall and asked our neighbour for help cos Sir was on the machine  Apparently it was only a baby (but looked pretty huge to me!) That neighbour has been really good to us and it's nice to have someone to count on in an emergency :D

It's supposed to be cooler today but still about 33C and expecting thunderstorms this afternoon. Cyclone Yasi is heading for Far North Queensland, it's a category 5 so as you can imagine the news is all over the TV about what to do and where to go to be safe....it's bigger than Larry which did quite a bit of damage in 06. Like they need any more water falling on them up there :(

As I said above it's a little cooler but not by much.
We have a heatwave and you have a blizzard - talk about extremes!! :D

Indeed not. I'm smack in the danger zone. With any luck Yasi may hit the coast south of us, but it's so big that we're still expecting to get smacked around. My wife and I are taking a quick break from working through the preparation checklist now.

We've had two different blokes come and measure our unit for new carpet, one just after I got back from NZ and another on Friday. We can do with new carpet, what is here is quite marked in places. But it's going to be a nightmare actually getting it done - lots of moving of furniture and packing up stuff so the furniture can be moved, not to mention the dialysis machine

We will get about a week's notice so when I know they are coming I'll ring the technicians so someone can come that day and take the assembly apart, move everything so the old carpet can be taken up and new put down, and then reconnect it all. The carpet guy I spoke to said they'd probably do that room first, and they'd have the whole unit done in a day (2 bedrooms and lounge area).

I know I am going to be stressing big time  I'm worried about what effect the new carpet smell will have on Sir's breathing (new paint smell caused breathlessness so we didn't get the unit painted last year). Every time I think about it I can feel my heart sinking! Sir says I worry too much and it will all probably go smoothly, but I can't help it!

Looks like a fine Saturday so back to speedway we go. We haven't been since Sir was injured on 25 Jan, although He did go to watch one night - the hottest day/night we have had this summer 42C  I didn't go it was way too hot for me! He rang me from the track just before 9pm to say it was still stinkin' hot and He was glad I didn't go I would have melted

It's almost 25C already at 8.30am.....it won't be as hot as 42C but hot enough, and it's really sticky as well.

I seem to have had an exhausting week. Sir has done 2 longer dialysis sessions (10 hours each) and Wednesday we had problems with one of the connections on the machine which let air into the lines (not a good thing!) so I had to strip the machine and start again. I didn't have to recannulate though, we just flushed them with saline a couple of times to prevent clotting, and all went well the second time around although it was after 9pm before we finished. It looks like Sir's dry weight will have to be 87.5kg, we tried to get down to 87kg but He had too many problems with cramping.

He has also started taking Panadol Osteo (Tylenol for my American friends). It's a slow release formula for arthritis which means He gets constant pain relief throughout the day by taking a regular dose (morning and night at this stage). He took the first dose last night and seemed to get some relief which is good especially for His injured shoulder which has been giving Him grief ever since the fall on the 25th.

Good to hear from you Bandit..I hope you all have a good time at the speedway!

Sending hugs to both of you!

Bandit, I am hoping all your loved ones are safe after the recent quake in NZ.:rose: Our thoughts and prayers are with all who are affected.

Catalina
