They all know what they want, the problem, as you have discovered, is getting them to express it. Yes, I know that's a sweeping generalization, but I have found it to be true.

Try spending a little more time prodding them (verbally I mean) and getting them comfortable and more relaxed. It's not easy in the beginning, especially for women.

I wish I had some better advice for you. Unfortunately, it's mostly trial and error. Especially with submissive women.
