Battle Cry

OOC: your welcome sweetie. Yanno, you two are the reason I keep posting here as well.

IC:
It was time. Slowly I let the mists surrounding myself drop as I stepped out of the protection of the Forest.
" I am afraid that she cannot help find your brother. You see, it is not within her abilities."
I walked towards them slowly not wanting to alarm them. The sun was glinting off of their flushed and sweating bodies. "Definitely something between them" I thought to myself.
" There is only one who can help you. And she stands before you now. Ask of me what you will."

Nert/Eliuric:

Smiling a broad smile Eliuric looked upon Nert as a new man. Though only a mere three days had passed for the outsiders, for Nert and himself three years had passed. Nert had the first signs of facial hair now and his eyes seemed to show darker, with knowlege. He lifted his hand and waved it through the air, a tail of flame hung in the air behind the path of his hand. It lingered in mid air, forming into a snake of unearthly fire. "Very good Ner..." Eliuric started, remembering now how the young boy dispised his old name, and what it ment for him. "Young sorcerer... You have proven your skill and mastery over the forces of magick... And now you have earned your time to wander the world... I will watch over you from afar, but only to see that you do not fall before your time... All else will be up to you..." With a pat on his back Eliuric sent Nert off, the door to his hut that has been closed and hidden these past three days/years creaks open and as Nert accepts his first breath of natural air once more Eliuric and his hut disapear.

Sky looked upon this new intruder with indifference. Inside, he was seething. Dammit! This is getting stranger and stranger. He sorely needed to feel his sword in his hands, swinging a death arc upon an enemy he could know and understand while perched upon Thunder's back. He was quickly becoming more frustrated than he had ever been in his life. Not only did he have to deal with Danzia in all her femaleness, now he had some wood nymph or fairy offering him "help."

To let out his frustration, Sky threw back his head and let out a battle cry. Both women looked at each other and then at Sky with bemusement showing on their faces. Sky's cry went on for quite a long time and finally petered out among the trees and mist. The echo of the cry hung around for a bit longer before it two died out. He was sweaty from the effort of the battle cry. Danzia raised her eyes to look into Sky's face and she bit back a chuckle.

"Do you feel better?" she asked.

"Well, yes, yes I do. Thank you," was Sky's reply.

The nymph stood by as the two of them played out a school yard romance. Her goal was specific and she could wait a few moments for Sky to regain his composure. She had cast a spell on Sky's men that made them think that everything was allright, else they would have come with swords swinging at Sky's battle cry. The nymph certainly had her work cut out for her.

"Ladies, let's get down to business. My brother Nert needs to be returned to me and quickly, for I have serious work to do." Sky explained to the women, as if they were simpletons, not capable of understanding all that was at stake.

"Let us sit and break bread together Sky and you will know all that you need to know," was the nymph's response. She exchanged a knowing smile with Danzia and led Sky to a clearing by his forearm.

I placed The Lord Sky upon a moss covered tree root, and The Lady Danzia upon a wonderfully soft bed of ferns. I hoped that this arrangement would be suitable to both. I quickly drew in a breath and released it, then began:
"My name is F'Lira Lo Dres, or in your words, Lady Protector of the Trees. I have been sent to you to aid you in your quest." I raised my hands to keep them silent. Now came the hardest part.
"Your brother is safe. And you will see him very soon, Lord Sky. But this is not the quest I am talking about. You see, many things will be happening soon. And you will be caught in the middle. You are needed by the highest of Powers to Protect this Forest. I know that it may sound a bit ridiculous, but if you would bring the Lady Tatianna, she might be able to explain this forest a little bit better than I can. All I can truly say, is that this Forest needs it's Lady and Princess back. Without them, Our Forest is in Grave danger."
I stood, waiting for them to begin with their questions. I could feel them burning and longing to ask them.

Danzia...

She frowned at the fantastic story she was hearing. Before her stood a nymph... telling her that the forest needed...

"Lady? Princess? What has all this to do with M'Lord Sky and his brother?"

Captain Sky had opened his own mouth it would seem to ask almost exactly this. Danzia felt a certain gratification that she had beat him to it. She quickly smothered her grin though and watched F'Lira Lo Dres curiously.

This was turning out to be a rather more interesting service than she had initially thought. Captain Sky was clearly most frustrated at being called away during his war. The battle was clearly his for the winning... yet... something... something strange... his aura perhaps... she found she was having trouble reading him. She found this distracting. He was clearly a deeper individual than she wanted to give him credit for. Honestly... what HAD the Elders been thinking sending her to him?

It was an understandable question. But why did The Lady Danzia seem so frustrated. Her Elder's did have a good reason for sending her to The Lord Sky. But it had nothing to do with war. I had to hold myself in check to keep from smiling and arousing suspicion.
"This Forest has everything to do with both this war, and The Lord Sky's brother. Lord Sky's brother is merely a pawn by forces who would wish harm upon this Forest. You see, Lord Sky, your brother might be smaller than you are, and you may think him weaker, but in truth, he is stronger and bigger than you would remember him. He may look the same when he returns, but looks can be deceiving."
They both seemed puzzled by this answer. Neither of them wanted to believe that what I spoke was the truth, it would seem that I must show them. But the only way to do this, was to ask for the release of the Lady Of The Forest, The Lady Tatianna.
"Lord Sky, I can see that this confuses you. I know of no other way to prove this than to show you what I mean. But in order to show you, I must be allowed to see, talk to, and use The Lady Tatianna. Whom you are holding captive."
"Never!!! She stole my horse and had he not been better trained than most, she would have suceeded. Nay, you'll not have acess to her. She is but a common thief."
I frowned at this. Surely The Lord Sky must realize that The Lady Tatianna was no mere woman??? How was I to prove to him, that she was indeed The Lady Of The Forest?? As I thought for a few minutes, The Lady Danzia, spoke aloud," My Lord Sky, what harm can it cause?? We will be here should she attempt anything like this again. Think again, Sire."
Again came the answer, "No, there is nothing you can say to make me change my mind."
THAT was the answer. I could not tell him, I must show him, how she was able to take his horse. But in showing him, he would be very sore and vexed with me. But time was running short, and what must be done, must be done.
"My Lord Sky, you say that your horse is better trained than most. So you say, that he is trained to accept your hand only?? That he will come to no other?? Nor will he show affection for others??"
"This is correct, Lady F'Lira. I trained him myself. There has been but one other incident in which someone was able to get him to show affection for them. But that was the Goddess Lorana."
"My Lord, surely you have heard that like the Goddess Lorana, we nymph's (and our offspring) are capable of the same thing. I will show you, My Lord."
Upon finishing my words, I started to sing, an ancient lullaby. One that everyone was familiar with. But I had directed it toward Lord Sky's horse. Slowly, the horse's ears picked up the friendly nature of the call, and started forward. Reaching my hand out, I held it open, palm up towards horse, in a show of friendship. This encouraged the horse even more, who had started to move even quicker to my side.

Captain Sky looked at Thunder with open mouthed wonder. He was battle trained! What sort of enchantment was this? Growing weary of the whole situation, Captain Sky drooped his shoulders and lowered his head. When he spoke, it was barely audible.

"O.K. I yield. Do with me as you will, just turn me loose from this nightmare!"

The passion he spoke with was unmistakable, even if his words were barely heard. Moss stains on his trousers made him looks as if he had been painted for stealth, and he used that very same battle trained stealth to plan his next move. Acting beaten was only a ruse...

Danzia...

Her eyes narrowed as she considered Captain Sky's sudden change in demeanor. She was unable to read his face as it was lowered... but she was highly suspicious. What little she knew of him told her he was not easily defeated. She frowned one last time at his lowered head before turning her attention to the nymph who had so easily called his precious horse to her.

Danzia was aware of the natural magicks. She had seen them in great evidence during her travels... too much so to be taken as mere luck or ruse. This nymph was indeed skilled but she was still unsure as to what to make of her and her strange stories.

She sighed and decided that her best course would be to do as her training bid. If Captain Sky decided to accept the nymph's request then she would of course follow also. She rolled her neck from side to side to ride herself of her tension. She was only then aware of how tense she had been holding herself. This would not do. She forced herself to relax as much as she dared her focus once more on the man the Elders had sent her to.

*sigh* I looked at The Lord Sky, in his new demeanor. I was not surprised, but I was pleased. I was not so foolish as to believe that he could so completely change his tune, so quickly, after hearing what I had said to him. Oh well, time will tell him the truth. There is no longer any time for us to discuss this further.
"Bring me The Lady Tatianna. Only with her help, will I be able to show you your brother. Only then will you truly believe me. The Lady Danzia is not so foolish as to believe me capable of telling false truths or resorting to trickery. I would wager a guess, she has come in contact with my kind before. Is that true, Lady Danzia?"
I patiently waited for her answer. Knowing, that what I suspected to be true, already.

OOC: Who was playing Tatianna and should I take over her character???

OOC: Thanks. I appreciate it. I'm doing my best. But she's getting way ahead of me now. <g>

Danzia...

was startled by the sudden direct question. She hesitated... noting Captain Sky's curious look her way. "It is true... during my journey's I have encountered some of your kind..." As always she kept her replies brief and she didn't elaborate. Twas hard to tell if those encounters had been good or bad.

Danzia chose this moment to stand a look down at Captain Sky. "M'Lord... I think I can say in all fairness that this one seems to be in earnst... I cannot believe she would take the woman from us if you did not choose for it to be so. Surely it can harm none to agree to her request?" Her tone was precise and the whole was a statement more than a question. To look at her it was plain to see she was not the sort of woman who had spent any time trying to wheedle a man. She waited patiently for his response. Her eyes dark and serious.
