As someone with long-time interests in both astrology and BDSM, I've often wondered what kinds of correlations I could find between the two. As such, I'd like to look at the natal horoscopes of self-proclaimed subs, doms, and switches, to see what kinds of patterns might or mightn't pop up!

Just from my personal opinion here, this is how I think these co-relate -

Cancer - likes to take care of others = submissive

Leo - big show-off = marked exhibitionistic streak (ahem!)

Capricorn - self-denial = does this need an explaination?

As a capricorn, the self-denial definitely needs an explanation.

What the . . . ! I'm a late Capricorn dominant who tends toward the description you gave for Capricorn with a powerful affinity for the progressivism, practicality, altruism you identify with the Aquarian dominant. That's bizarre.

Pisces- Primarily dominant switch.

I think to relate astrology to BDSM you'd have to go farther, such as looking at aspects between planets. Mars is indicative of sexuality usually, Pluto has a dark side to it, Venus is how you express/receive love. The relationships between the different planets and the signs they are in, plus the overall chart would lead to one's leanings.

For example, Mars in Scorpio: "You've got the classic smoldering intensity, and look a little dangerous, too. You've got great stores of emotional power and sexual energy stirring within. You come across as observant, self-controlled, and yet ready to pounce on an opportunity. You are passionate, and crave activities that take you deep into a subject. You're skilled at reading the essence of a situation, and appear to make strategic moves at the right time."

Put that in square relationship with Pluto, say: "With the energy released by the square, you will be mainly motivated by self-centred tendencies and a need to 'throw out' overflowing and excess martian energy. You tend to think that the power of your natural energy is sufficient to win you success and satisfaction; and indeed the force and directness of it often can, but using it in such a way often overrides sensitivity and awareness of others."

OR, Pluto conjunct Sun:

"A conjunction of the Sun and Pluto shows you possess the traits of an extremist in some ways. Your likes and dislikes can be intense. Being moderate in your actions is always a problem. There is a power complex in play here, and you have to deal with a tendency to become dictatorial."

One I have, Mars conjunct Pluto:

"Your intensity and directness may be challenging for others, who might find you quite intimidating or too invasive."

Hmm, no wonder I have so many more regrets over what I've said, not what I haven't said......

Once I had the courage to face my feelings in the BDSM direction, I realized they really didn't go very far at all! I am grateful for the other travellers who did go farther to make me realize it was all o.k., to accept my desires exactly the way they were!
