The point of the threads or the point of your complaint thread?

What is the point of any thread on this site? Most of them are BusyBody threads, which no sane person ever sees. You have posted in several of the listed threads, and you do not know the point? I find the dozens of porn-reposting threads more objectionable than political threads which are not political in any way, but rather are puerile name calling and linkwarrior matches between left-wing trolls and right-wing trolls.

Why so many?" is the point. Do they think flooding the board with dozens of threads every day makes a difference? I boycott most of them, unless other people have already posted and started a "discussion"

You know I never degrade to name calling, though. I also fail to see any point in that back and forth game every day.

Also why would you find porn threads objectionable on a porn site?

If you read the Literotica description of the General Board it says:
"Want to talk about something not covered anywhere else? Try this board!"

So, this in an 'anything goes' soup with some legal limits.

What I wonder is why some people desire to stifle others from adding to the soup.

It seems like some are fearful of the presentation of ideas that are divergent from their programing.

Seems like asking a genuine question is turning in to false projection of "fear" and "stifling".

I genuinely wonder:

"what is the point?"

I couldn't care less who posts what. I have no one on ignore and have never reported anyone.

I've been asking this same question forever.

Today seemed like a perfect example.

Why?

There are several plausible theories:

1. Some type of social media influencing campaign.

2. Paid to generate click traffic.

3. Just bored and trying to share knowledge?

4. Desperate for attention.

Don't think so. Every thread I linked to is explicitly politically polarized.

Even if someone had an avid interest in poli sci, they would eventually post scholarly articles, or some other insights in to the overall nature of the beast.

But no, it's all sensationalist clickbait.

That you're not willing to engage in discussion and instead resort to denial and Ad Hom attacks doesn't mean that the thread starters are like you.

You see, when you go full rorbags, what you get is a thread spawned by your own bias as proof of your bias so that you can declare victory by using your biases to support your biased conjectures.

This entire thread is a rorbags style pat on your own back. It's nothing but implied slurs against those whose political ideas and beliefs you don't agree with just so you can promote your self righteousness.

There is no real discussion here. Anytime anyone challenges your preconceived notion, which is what a bias is, you immediately deflect to "what are you talking about?" as if you don't understand the very basis of your own thread and posts.

As I said, you deflect into "what are you talking about?" rather than face the truth.

And, when confronted by the truth, you merely restate your original premise as if none of the interceding conversation had occurred.

Discussion to me means a person brings forth an opinion, with supporting factual information for any claims made AND does not hesitate to produce the source of any claimed facts.

The problem here is it doesn't even begin that way. As pointed out in post #2 of this thread it doesn't devolve into name calling caos, it's that way from the git go.

You can't have a logical, intelligent discussion when you have the far left faction screaming names at the far right and visa versa.

Perhaps if some here would grow up and realize that screaming at each other accomplishes the exact opposite of what they desire to happen, things might chance. Hmmmmm.....come to think of it, nope ain't gunna happen.

I make a thread summarizing all the political threads on the first page of the GB. Fairly. Accurately. I simply ask "what is the point?"


I then get accused of "complaining", "stifling", "being fearful", "resorting to denial", "using ad hom attacks", "being biased", "declaring victory", "patting myself on the back", "implying slurs", "promoting my self righteousness", "deflecting", and "devolving in to name calling chaos from the git go".

Did I miss one? :D
