Best Food???

Americans don't do beans and sausages? So there's no beans, sausages and chips meals there? Or full English breakfasts?

Tell me you people do eat bacon.

No, I don't think there are a huge number of places in the US that serve sausages, beans, and French fries as a meal, but I could be completely wrong.

It varies a bit by region, doesn't it? I'm not exactly sure what constitutes a full English breakfast to you. Bacon and eggs are common, as is toast. But I've never had baked beans or fried bread (other than waffles or pancakes) as part of an "American breakfast". I don't think smoked kipper or kidneys are that common, either. ;)

Luck,

I suppose I'm some kind of wierd pervert.. but I truly believe that the best meal in the world is pussy!!!!

Best of all.. it seems to taste different and yet similar no matter what country the server is from!!!!! And all of it is mighty good!!!!

Full English breakfast:

Bacon, Eggs, Sausages, Fried Bread, Beans, Fried tomato, Black Pudding, Mushrooms. I tend to leave off the black pudding and mushrooms from mine as I'm not a fan of either, but that's the list for a proper Full English.

You could of course add sauted potatoes to that!

Proper fried chips are an option, but most people don't recognise them as an integral part of the Full English.

Sidenote: I love Sauteed potatoes. Gorgeous things.

WEll I would only accept sauteed as part of a breakfast - not chips! Hash browns or rosti would be an alternative but too tendy!

I would've said sauteed potatoes were more of a roast dinner thing. I need a chip fryer, so I can make them myself.

Yeah me too but if you had to have potatoes with your breakfast what would they be? Remember this is an full English!

No, in the States you're more likely to get eggs, hash browned potatoes, toast & jelly and coffee. Little smoked sausages, bacon, or fried ham is optional, and that's about it. In the south you might get a side order of hominy grits instead of potatoes and biscuits instead of toast. If you're really hungry, you get a stack of pancakes and maple syrup with the eggs. That's a lumberjack breakfast, very high-calorie.

Actually, I think the eggs/hash browns/toast is on the way out too. If you're having eggs, you're more likely to get some sort of omelet: cheese, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, asparagus, whatever. No beans though. No black pudding either.

Breakfasts are getting lighter here. Lots of times it's only a muffin or a bagle and coffee, or fresh fruit if you can get it. Anything that's fried has a pretty bad rap. Anything fried in butter is considered sinful and dangerous.

I like rice balls. When I was going to school in Japan I used to make Onigiri for lunch all the time.

You're all weird.

Thre only thing served hot on my breakfast table is the coffee.

YUM FOOD, you all tell me when you want rack of lamb, king crab and beef, pork and lamb or chocolate :D we'll talk :D

French toast...yum...

My family is from the Adriatic, so I grew up with mom's breakfasts of maybe eggs, usually cheese, always bread, tomatoes, yogurt and fruit. On weekends, she might make crepes, fried dough (with or without powdered sugar), or French toast. But there were always the bread, the cheese, the tomatoes, the yogurt and the fruit. And those deadly little cups of black Turkish coffee.

Then I got all American and discovered cereal, omelettes, and pancakes. The whole sausage/ham/bacon thing freaked me out. Meat for breakfast? Wierd.

Bacon. Yeah, but mostly in Houston. They won Fattest City this year, I believe...

Actually, I eat far too much bacon, what with my genetics pretty much ticking down to genetic high blood pressure and cholesterol. I could do without eggs too, or maybe, depending on whether or not they're healthy this week.

;)

The strange American belief that there's no decent food in England always baffles me. I'm not entirely sure where it coems from. Anyone?

I can't speak for all people who live in America, but blood pudding and baked beans on toast come to mind. ;)

I'm joking. Americans think there is nothing to eat in Japan, either.

And no, we don't all think food is bad everywhere else, but you eat what you eat. personally, I'd pass on all that for a couple Primanti Bros. sandwiches pretty much any day. But then, I'm from Pittsburgh...
