Best novels I have read in a long time...

Hi Cloudy!

Yes, another Alexie fan – woohoo! He is coming as close to me as the NC School of the Arts in February 2005, and I hope to get up there to hear him. I can't think of another writer in my experience that makes me want to gather his words near and re-read them, not just for the profundity of their beauty, but to decode them for his actual meaning. :)

I am lame, neh? ;)

Not lame at all!

He's a very profound, interesting man. And, he's a straight shooter who tells it like it is most of the time.

Did you know he's also a stand-up comedian? The first time I saw him on t.v. I laughed so hard I could barely breathe. He starts his act as a drunken indian heckler out in the audience - perfect!

Fellow fans of Sherman Alexie: Did you like his movie, "Smoke Signals." I thought it was quite good.

Hi Sappholovers,

Yes, I loved "Smoke Signals" (and not only because Adam Beach made such a lovely Victor). ;) Thomas, oh, Thomas has broken my heart over and over in short stories…and Evan Adams broke it again in the movie. Oy.

I am still waiting to see "The Business of Fancydancing" and "49?"; have you seen them?

Hi Cloudy,

I have never seen Alexie's stand-up act, but I want to! Without going all "fan-girl" on everybody, I find Alexie to be an extremely interesting individual. There is an edginess about him and his writing…a capacity for both poetry and violence, laughter and anger. I'm sorry, I don't have the right words to successfully articulate the quality, but I feel it… I suppose that dichotomy it is just a part and price of the genius that rides him, neh?

If I continue waxing poetic, I will need to change my name to AlexieFanGirl, so I will shut-up, now. ;)

Best to you,

Yui ^_^
