Chloe Garret left the bathroom and sat at the old counter table opening a file with her body still wrapped in a towel. She pulled out a few pictures, placing them over the wooden surface before checking the papers. There were several notes she did along months.

That's why she ended in that motel room outskirts of the big city. Chloe was investigating about a ghost. "The Crew", as they were simply called, were considered by most law enforcement officials to be little more than a myth, and urban legend, a boogie man that other criminals used as a scape goat in order to deflect blame from themselves and also waste the time of police investigators. But she knew better, she knew that they were not only real, but that they also had their hands in nearly every area of criminal enterprise imaginable. She'd figured out that they lived a nomadic lifestyle, traveling from one area to the next as they ran guns, drugs, women, and anything else that they could sell. Always managing to stay off the radar and making sure that there was always someone else to take the fall when the law came calling. For years they had duped everyone, but now it was time for that to end.

Ignored by the authorities, she knew they were real and they were very active, running every criminal activity in the State. Drugs, guns, women, anything profitable and everything illegal, they had their hands on it.

Why that gang was out of the radar, she wasn't sure. If they had tentacles inside the law, she would find out. After all, she was close. Very close. After a lot of dead ends, she finally was getting something real after several months of work. By a local drug dealer, she had found out that was gonna happen some drug dealing in the abandoned warehouse in that seedy neighborhood. It was the most consistent info she ever got about the gang and that was an opportunity to not miss.

She knew that it was gonna be her ticket to the big league. It all happened when she was after info about an old friend of her who got hooked into drugs and was found dead in an alley. At some point, her investigation about the source of the drugs became difficult to follow, and that's where the loose ends where pointing to the Crew, but none was able to help her. None but that drug dealer she has been following from the beginning. Even getting information from him took months of pressure. That's the proof that she was after something bigger than she ever imagined.

Chloe stood up and threw the towel over the chair she was sat. Few minutes later, she was already checking her camera, making final adjusts before taking her keys and her iPhone over the old furniture where there was an older TV.

She checked herself one last time in a narrow but long mirror. Discreetly wearing a pair of jeans, red blouse and a jacket, she locked the door and entered into her car, driving off to the warehouse which wasn't too far from the motel. That part of the city was forgotten by the authorities as it looked so different from the modern civilization she was used to live. Chloe knew that it was a perfect place to make business without being noticed.

But she was ready to reveal them to the world.

"This reporter bitch is on to us," Tommy said, speaking from the head of the circle. He may have been one of the younger guys in the Crew, but he'd been raised in this life and had risen to the top, the most respected of the 13 members. The most vicious. The most brutal. Perhaps, even, the most heartless.

"Tonight, we catch her. No one has gotten this close to us, and we need to tie up this loose end."

The trap was set. Eddie the drug dealer had fed her the information the Crew had given him; his disloyalty would be dealt with as soon as the reporter was caught, but they needed him alive for the time being.

Of course it was all an elaborate ruse. Two of the guys were set up in nearby windows with expansive views of the neighborhood, and her approach was spotted easily, and relayed via text message. A big box truck would pull in to the warehouse... The "delivery". The old warehouse had lots of hiding places, darknesses. And the Crew had made sure there was only one way she would be able to sneak inside.

It was almost too easy. Let her sneak in, and two guys grab her out of the shadows, gag her, bind her, and bring her to him. And then she disappears..

Chloe's car stopped very slowly near the old warehouse. With the lights already off, she parked the car and realized that something was happening inside the place. Her slender fingers held the steering wheel while she bent forward before getting out the car. If her source was right, the gang would have men outside the place and she didn't want to get caught. God knows what they could do to her.

Finally, she left her car and walked towards the left side of warehouse. With her eyes wide opened, she moved slowly until she found a crack in the wall with space enough to allow her tiny body to sneak into the building. Chloe had her ears and eyes in alert the whole time, as the place was darker than she expected. She didn't want to trip at something and draw any attention.

But walking between the large shelves, Chloe didn't know that it was the only way to get closer to the dim light far into the building. It was gonna be hard to escape if she get caught, but she couldn't avoid to look at the suspicious activity inside the warehouse.

It didn't take long and a wide smile came to her face. Her source was right. A big truck was parked into the building where she could see several men with their motorbikes parked near it. It was them. It had to be them.

Chloe stopped near a cracked column and pulled out her camera and aimed to the reunion, where she could see those men standing up near the entrance of the truck. They seemed pretty relaxed as it looked like they were used to do whatever they were doing. And it didn't look like they were just partying.
